Worth every penny
A TEN rating, double the five. This is my second one. I bought a bargain cheap brand for twenty odd dollars which supposedly had good reviews, but it was a piece of garbage. That one did little more than a zip lock bag. This one is worth every penny and yet not near the higher priced ones. Yet, the sealing is fantastic and effective and looks like the professionally sealed ones you might find at the market. Easy to use with great functionality. And I don’t want any leakage in my sous vide bath as that would damage it. I don’t know how Amazon vets it’s reviews but this one is honest.

A step up over the old FoodSaver
After about a decade or so, my FoodSaver v4400 suddenly died. At the time of its purchase, it was the top of the line. I thought about replacing it with another one, but then I recalled that it was not exactly the best experience. The automated bag detection system worked, but the reason it existed in the first place is because the user had to stick the bag into a slot far enough for the machine to functional, but not too far. This meant that there was some trial and error with each usage. I also remembered that the I could not always get great suction or an ideal seal. Again, this was a function of the design. I read a number of reviews for the latest FoodSavers and many of the reviews state that the newer ones are not as good as the earlier models. These were the things that led me to consider alternative solutions. Most of the reviews of today's top vacuum sealers indicated that either the Anova or the Nesco was a better choice. I opted for the Anova over the Nesco because of one simple feature. With the Anova, I can keep sealing one bag and another. The Nesco needs time in between seals to rest. Because I tend to do all the bagging and then all the sealing, the Anova made a lot more sense. If that is not your habit, you might prefer the superior vacuum strength of the Nesco. The Anova turned out to be the answer to all my problems. The design is much different. The user can see the seal strip and where the bag goes for vacuuming making the whole operation easy and predictable. The Anova simply has more vacuum suction power than by old V4400 and that not only translates to an improved reduction of air, but also significantly faster vacuuming. It does, however, take a little longer to seal - and that is probably in part due to the superior double seal. Overall, I think it is faster. More importantly, it does a better job, and it does it all the time. It is also a small and lighter machine offering all the features of the v4400 -for about 1/2 the cost. I do not know yet if the Anova will last 10 years, but it does come with a warranty that is double that of a new v4400. And it can use the exact same bags as the FoodSaver.

Extremely Disappointing. Light Use Only.
I had the same experience as this customer. The unit now seals less than half the time and it's seals don't hold nearly as well as the similarly prices foodsaver model we had previously. "I've been using this vacuum sealer regularly for about a year now and feel that I can give a good balanced review now. I use it for sous vide cooking and also to prepare food items for freezer storage. The unit worked great for the first 3 months. It sucked every bit the air out of the bags and made a perfect seal. After the 4 month mark, I noticed it was more finicky - it would take several attempts, and the bag had to be positioned just so, in order to get all the air out. A few times the seal proved to be not perfect and it let air into the bag and allowed fluid to leak into the sous vide bath. Lately it works only half the time - it takes multiple attempts to get a true vacuum and I have to seal at least twice to be sure the seal will hold in the sous vide. Another annoying thins is that the controls don't work as before - it used to be one click to vacuum and seal, now it's hit and miss if the seal function will work after the vacuum function. Another thing is the external pulse vacuum feature - so you can use use reusable bags - does not work at all - no suction whatsoever. I'm frankly disappointed that the unit failed after only a year. Huge upgrade from my less expensive one...
I had the Geryon sealer. It had issues but was useable. Its biggest issue was that it didn't manage seal bar temperature - if you did 8 or 9 seals in a row, the last ones would just melt the bag in half. Finally, one of the plastic latch tabs broke off and I needed a new sealer. This Avona sealer has a bag compartment for a bag roll and has a cutter - very handy. And, it does a double seal all at once - where I used to seal twice. But the absolute best feature is the latch mechanism - it's designed to be operated one handed. When I'm repackaging meat for the freezer, I keep one hand clean an dry and one all covered in meat juice. The cheaper sealers that have two buttons, one on each side are pretty hard to operate one handed. This one has the latch bar and is easy to open or close one handed.

Good, could be better
When I needed a new vacuum sealer I was excited to give the Vacuum Sealer Pro a chance based on my experience with the Anova Sous Vide cookers. Other than my experience with the sous vide giving me confidence in the brand, I chose this because it specifically called out being able to seal a large number of bags in succession which is something my FoodSaver struggled with and in my limited usage so far it does deliver on that promise. I do have a few gripes though, none of which are deal breakers on their own or enough for me to return it but are things that cheapen the experience and I think would prevent me from buying another in the future especially at full price. The first is the thickness of the base makes it so I have to either cut way too much extra bag or prop up the bag on something like a cutting board so it can sit closer the opening otherwise you won't be able to get the bag into the unit far enough to get a good vacuum and seal. Second, the drip tray is not removable so when you do get any juices into the unit you cant clean it as easily as even the bottom tier vacuum sealers from other brands, this is a bit of a sanitary issue since you can't clean it as thoroughly as units with a removable tray. My final gripe is the lack of included accessory hose. It's such a small thing and Anova currently sells it for $7, this seems like something that should be included in a "pro" machine. It may be user error somehow, but I have an issue when running the "vacuum & seal" cycle, the bag will vacuum and it will switch to the seal stage but it never actually seals the bag and there are no signs on the bag that any heat was applied, rerunning the cycle resolves it, but it has happened 3 or 4 times in about 30 bags sealed. I will keep an eye on it to see if it continues to be a problem. It's not the end of the world but is something that shouldn't be happening. I also tried the included roll of material to ensure it wasn't some kind of compatibility issue with the third party bags I have been using and the same thing happened. I do highly recommend if you do buy this unit you buy basically any other brand of material. The bags/rolls are so severely overpriced compared to competitors and mine has worked with both FoodSaver and Kirkland signature bags without issue so far. Overall it is worth the current Amazon sale price of $99 but I don't recommend it at full price as it just doesn't elevate the experience over other brands you can buy for $100 or less. I also have a chamber sealer that is starting to act up and parts are no longer available for it, I was considering the anova chamber sealer but at this point I think I will look elsewhere.

Defective vacuum sealer and UPDATE
I bought this vacuum sealer four months ago and have used it a few times, but now the vacuum function no longer works, only the sealer works on its own. The vacuum part doesn't suck out the air. I can't return it anymore because the Amazon return window has closed. I contacted Anova since it has a two year warranty, and they’ve asked for videos, etc I hope they can resolve this issue or refund my money.Looking at the reviews now, I see that this problem is common with this brand. Update: Anova’s customer service responded quickly. They had me ship the unit back to them at no cost, and I’m now waiting for my replacement vacuum sealer. Their support has been great so far, I’ll post again once I receive the new unit to confirm the issue is fully resolved. LAST UPDATE: July 18, 2026. Customer service reached out and sent me a brand new machine as a replacement. The process was smooth and the support was great. I just tested the new unit and it is working perfectly. Hoping it stays this way! 5 stars for the service.

Best vacuum sealer
best food saver vacuum sealer I've had. Bad feeder feature actually works. Best vacuum suction of the 2-3 systems I've purchased. It's a little bigger than some other brands but I believe the size helps with the function.

Not great at vacuuming or sealing
It usually seals, but the seals tend to not last in the freezer. Wet ingredients are incredibly hard to seal and it doesn't vacuum air out. With dry it vacuums out about 80%, but that seal regularly breaks in the freezer. It's nice and compact and the cutter on the inside is great. I wanted it to be so much better!

Buen aparato
Si es para ti casa está bien, en mi caso intenté con otra marca de bolsas al vacío y no funciona de la misma manera, tuve que comprar más rollos de la misma marca (anova) solo así funciona

Saudi buyers beware ⚠️: This is a 120V-only product, not 220V as listed 🔌‼️
I am extremely disappointed with this purchase due to a major discrepancy between the advertised specifications and the actual product received. The product listing clearly states that the vacuum sealer operates on 220V, which is essential for use in Saudi Arabia. However, after receiving the item and checking both the manual and the manufacturer label on the machine itself, the product is actually rated only for 120V / 60Hz. This is not a minor detail or preference issue — it directly affects whether the product can be safely used. Plugging a 120V appliance into a 220–240V outlet is unsafe and risks damaging the appliance. Because of this misleading specification, the product is not suitable for use as advertised and now requires an additional external step-down transformer that was never disclosed in the listing. I purchased this item specifically expecting direct compatibility with local power standards based on the advertised information. This has been a major disappointment and inconvenience.

Anova Culinary Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro
The Anova Vacuum Sealer Pro arrived ahead of schedule. I have tested it, and it works very well. Both for food storage and sous vide. Value for money. I recommend this product.
