## Description

Product description About Us Why Choose Musashi Swords? Check Out The Musashi Difference Official weapon of the United States Kempo Team Medal winner at International Competitions (2012, 2013, 2017, 2018 World Kempo Championship) Hand crafted by award winning master sword smiths* Rated 4-Stars in Sword Buyers Guide Recommended by editor of Katsujinken Sword Arts Journal Magazine Forged under the advisement of Head Master Ueno Kagenori Genki of Tenshinsho Jigen Ryu* Part of the permanent exhibit at the Martial Arts History Museum Hand Forged Blade All Musashi blades are clay tempered and hand forged from start to finish. Each blade is numbered on the tang with a matching certificate of authenticity. The forge date is also etched on the tang as well as “Musashi” in kanji. Bo-hi, false edge, and several different styles of real hamon gives you a wide variety of selection when you choose your Musashi sword. Steel Types: 1060 High Carbon Steel Forge Method: Maru-Kitae Musashi Swords start with nothing less than 1060 high carbon steel. Found primarily in our Musashi Silver Collection these swords offer a great compromise between strength and edge hardness. Not only are 1060 carbon steel swords able to hold an edge, its primary focus is its durability. Increased durability is used by incorporating traditional Maru-Kitae method of forging from a homogenous steel. Steel Types: 1090, 1095, or T10 High Carbon Steels The Musashi Gold Collection starts with a minimal of 1090 high carbon steel and moves up to 1095, T10 as well as Damascus steels as bases for the hand forged blades. Forged using the traditional Maru-Kitae method of forging from a homogenous steel. High carbon steel is very hard and must be properly heat treated thus making its forging process extremely difficult. This particular type of steel is exceptional at holding its edge. Every sword from our Gold Collection is clay tempered and full tang to make sure they will perform the way they were designed. Functionality, beauty, and value, our Musashi Gold Collection swords combines beautifully designed work of art with skillfully hand sharpened edges to give you a sword that is hard to beat. Combines Two Steel Types: From 1060 High Carbon Steel up to T10 Forge Methods: Kobuse-Kitae and Gomai-Kitae The Musashi Platinum Collection combines two steel using either the Kobuse-Kitae method (combining two types of steels) or the Gomai-Kitae method (three layers two steels). 1095 carbon steel is very hard and must be properly heat treated making its forging process extremely difficult. This particular type of steel is exceptional at holding its edge. When combined with 1060 or even 1095 high carbon steel, this katana is a combination of the best of both worlds; keeping a keen edge while still maintaining its durability. Through the Kobuse-Kitae and Gomai-Kitae forging methods our Musashi Platinum Collection swords combine a beautifully designed work of art with a skillfully sharp sword edge. Steel Types: T10 or Tamahagane Our toughest swords in the Musashi collection come from the Miyamoto Collection. These swords consist of either T10 steel or Tamahagane. T10 steel is a tungsten alloy steel that has an extremely high carbon content combined with a bit of silicon. This makes for an exceptionally hard blade that is impervious to scratches and abrasions. Tamahagane, literally translated means “jewel steel,” is one of the rarest materials used in katana forging. The forging process to create a sword using Tamahagane takes several months to years. Due to its difficulty each Tamahagane sword is as unique as the sword smith that created it and truly one of the must-have swords in any collection.

Review: ATTENTION: !!! 2021 HONEST REVIEW !!! - This is a great kit! The oil bottle was not damaged with no spills, so did came with bamboo mekugi, the uchiko ball was still intact and wrapped tight to the stick, and white plastic container was good! It helps all lot! I tested out on how much days can the oil last and it lasted for 2-3 weeks for a rust invasion! So I don’t really mind doing maintenance on my katana every once a week just to be safe! I actually enjoy doing maintenance on my katana! Hope this helps!
Review: Came basically as advertised - This is a nice little sword maintenance kit. It came with everything it said it would: The oil, rice papers, powder ball, etc.. The only thing I had an issue with is the bottle with the oil was only filled about 15 ml, when the bottle itself is 20-25 ml, but for the price I bought at ($13), it is well worth the value.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The pegs however are not the best as they are perfect cylinders instead of being tapered ...
*by O***N on December 12, 2017*

Never had another kit to compare this to but I received what I expected from reviews I've read. Box is cheap but it serves its purpose. Unlike other reviews that I saw that most of their choji oil spilled, my bottle was full. They may have fixed the problem because mine was actually sealed. Also most people say they did not receive the menuki pegs, I received those as well. The pegs however are not the best as they are perfect cylinders instead of being tapered where one side is smaller than the other. For the price if you need or want a kit, this one is fine for the price. Took a week and a half to get from Georgia to texas but it was within the specified time of delivery. So after further review of this kit not sure if that big of a deal but the oil I personally do not believe is real choji oil. Not to say the oil is bad for your sword but I also purchased choji oil separately which is nothing but light mineral oil with a pinch of clove oil for scent. Mineral oil is clear which the choji oil I purchased is and it smells like clove. The oil with the kit however is yellowish in color and smells like your typical machine oil or clipper oil. It is also very thin or watery feeling which I'm not sure is good or bad but my choji oil actually feels like oil or to say is quite a bit thicker. Not to say the oil I bought separately is better but it's what I used instead of what was in the kit. I will still try the oil out on some cheaper knives I have and not to say it's not ok for your katana. Just saying there is no clove oil and it's not mineral oil. Machine oil to my thinking which I would guess is still ok to use.
