All the build-up scraped off easily and it did not scratch the glass. The next step is to clean and polish the glass with the cleaner and the provided soft scrubbing pad. You use a quarter-size amount and rub it all over the stove top and then once scrubbed, you buff it with paper towels or soft cloth. That's all there was to it! No mess, no odor; just a shiny stove top. The bonus was that it said it worked on stainless steel (not appliances though) and my stainless kitchen sinks had rust rings from paint cans. I poured a little on, used the soft scrubbing pad and my sinks were also shiny clean! The larger bottle of cleaner removes any residue from everyday use and the smaller one I've rarely had to use but it does work on stubborn residue. I was unsure of using the non scratch pads at first but they really work on stuck on debris without damaging the stovetop.
