## Description

CONDOR TOOL & KNIFE traces its proud history back to 1787, the year GERB WEYESBERG COMPANY was founded in Solingen, Germany. The quality of the swords, military knives, agricultural tools and household cutlery they manufactured made Solingen the cutlery capital of the world. Over the generations, the world’s largest manufacturer of swords and knives found it necessary to expand operations to other countries to better serve its customers. In 1964, the company formed IMACASA with a new plant in Santa Ana, El Salvador and filled it with state of the art German equipment. Some of the original local employees who were sent to Solingen for extensive training forty years ago are still working in the factory today, turning out the finest quality machetes, shovels and other hand tools.

Review: 4" Condor Bushcraft - Ths Seller was outstanding. Smoky mountain Knife works is awesome. great timely delivery. as to the Product. the steel is goo the sheath is better than expected. but the treatment of that Steel and the edge geomety are for crap. It will take me several days to remove the chip in the blade from the factory and the edge coulld not cut warmed butter. for an inexpensive knife i expected some difficulties, but no this much. This is not Amozons fault. they deliver a purchased product. I Lay this at Condors Feet for shipping such a problem item. Trained in Soligen. he must be the supervisor. Smoky Mtn Knife = Great desertcart = Great Condor = needs help
Review: Truly basic, basically good - The following applies to all of the Condor Bushcraft Basic knives, of whatever length. To understand these knives, start with the word "basic." Generally speaking, Condor knives seem to be stamped out of one large, uniform sheet of steel before taking on their typical saber grind. For its higher-priced offerings, Condor makes more of an attempt to differentiate each model, but still every edged tool Condor makes from knife to axe to sword has this unmistakable stamped-from-a-sheet feel. The lower priced line of Bushcraft Basic knives are no exception. While it is easy to joke about this at Condor's expense, the fact remains that these stamped-out tools work pretty well for their price and task. The Bushcraft Basics come from a basic high-carbon steel, which is protected on its unground parts by a durable black damage-resistant coating. They sport basic rounded wooden handles that clap on either side of the tang, and are polished together to prevent the full tang protruding from the wooden handle in any way. Still, the obvious full tangs on these knives make serviceable hammers on hard surfaces like rock. I have personally used the tang on one to successfully knap out a rudimentary stone hand-axe. The saber grind ends in a rounded point on each knife, which is stronger than a sharp tip but less handy for detailed carving. As the saber grind is a basic flat grind, it is a straightforward task to sharpen, repair, and touch up the cutting edges. One can even get a functional edge from a sufficiently hard and even stone (e.g. one found in a river bed was just the right mixture of course and homogenous for me). The different lengths of blade in this line serve a variety of purposes outdoors: Carving, feathering, shaving, whittling, skinning, and chopping fresh wood, to name but a few. In summary, these knives are basic, and basically serve their purpose without many surprises. If you have the know-how and the right setting, these knives are all you may need for bushcrafting, fire making, and survival in the wild.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A LOT of knife for a little $
*by W***P on August 13, 2011*

Ok, who priced this little gem at just $21!?? I've used this out in the bush and on a few camping trips with impressive results. You do need to run your stone on the edge a few times, but the 1075 high carbon steel holds it's edge very well and feels great in the hand. This rugged knife can chop wood and do fine carvings as well. I love Condor's leather sheaths. They are as close as you get to hand made. Get this knife if you want a solid little bushcraft knife.
