To get a good idea of what’s available, check out the needledoctor or crutchfield websites. **Q: So, since this turntable has a built in preamp, does this mean I can use passive speakers? Or do I need powered speakers?** A: No. You'll need powered speakers or you'll need to plug it into an amp to use passive speakers. "Preamp" = pre (before) amplifier. Preamps and phono amps take the very low signal from the stylus and amplify it to a level that an amplifier can use. AND (the reason record players need phono-specific preamps instead of a standard preamp) the preamp/phonoamp also decodes the RIAA format that all albums since the 1950s use, which is proprietary and needs a specific type of decoding to play the music. **Q: I have always owned belt drive turntables.
