Good sound in a decent but delicate case, use care when installing.
I have not installed these in the walls yet mainly since I am still building them. After reading some of the other reviews about a few modifications I can see how it would be valuable to both take your time and reinforce the screws a little bit. It does indeed look like recycled plastics in the construction, probably good from a re-use stand point and cheaper, these were inexpensive, and extra care when installing them is great forewarning. When I put them in I am going to leave extra time to go slow and remember that firm is likely tight enough with the simple and thin tabs they have for attaching to the drywall. As for sound I have been using them, set up for music as I am finishing the basement and they have been working really well so far. Good sound, can turn them up enough to hear even with ear protection on. They seem to sound like I'd expect for speakers that cost more. Update: I have installed these in the wall and the ceiling and had success with both. The biggest thing I would suggest is that you take a little bit of time to set each of the 6 grippers, by that I mean run the screws through each one about 3/4 of an inch. They are newly molded plastic and though there is a hole in them, you will want to get the threads run through them once. When you are backing them up they will slip over the top allowing them to be turned out of the way. Make sure that they are still a bit tight and don't let them slide all the way back out as they won't re-seat every time, especially when you don't see them in the drywall hole. Even tight they will turn easily out of the way when you go to set them in the wall but won't be likely to break on their way down, though make sure to use a hand screwdriver as you don't want to over tighten any of them. They still sound really good and for the price even with a little bit of pre-work on them I'd buy another set when or if I need something like this in the future.

terrific sound at a great price
We installed 6 of these speakers in the ceiling a couple of weeks ago: two in each of three rooms that are approximately 15'x15' to 15'x20'. We have them hooked up to a multi-room receiver for playing music. They sound great, especially the set in the kitchen. Part of the reason may be all the hard surfaces in that room, but part is probably because the cabinets narrow the room. The dining room also has a hard floor & surfaces, but has less furniture. Anyway, the point is that obviously every room is going to have its own acoustic quirks, so consider the size, contents, and materials in the room. These sound great even in our living room, which is the larger room with carpet, not a lot of large furniture filling space, and has softer materials like curtains & sofas. A few years ago, we bought Micca ceiling speakers for our family room, which is very large and required 8 of them. They're good, but I like these Pyle speakers better. And again, maybe it's got more to do with the particulars of the rooms, but these sound better to me. So, I'm glad that when we went to make our purchase for this project, there was a quantity limit on the Micca speakers that prevented us from getting them. At the time I was p*ssed - why limit people to 4 speakers?? - but that led us to find these, which were cheaper and turned out to sound better. I'd love to have really high end speakers and system, but I've got a budget. Context: I'm no audiophile, but I love my music. I'm used to the Bose in my car and high quality Bose & Sony headphones. These Pyle in-ceiling speakers are quite nice - no disappointment - in 2 of the rooms and compare favorably in the kitchen. I hope that helps. If we ever need more, I'll definitely look for these again. Install: these were pretty straightforward. We took the advice of another reviewer to pre-drill the plastic clamps before mounting (carefully screw them in to get it properly threaded, then remove for install) and not to over-tighten. We had no problems and it went pretty quickly. Durability: it's only been a few weeks, though we use them pretty much every day. I don't generally crank it up high, but the day we were setting up the system, we accidentally sent some very loud feedback through. We were concerned that we might have blown the speakers, but they were just fine.

the grills are horrible, they don't fit snug in place
The first one arrived with a broken corner, the second one has something rattling around inside the speaker. As per all the reviews, screw the screws that hold the tabs in place through the tabs before installation, otherwise, trouble. They are flimsy!!! It says adjustable tweeter, but I can't move mine. Also, the grills are horrible, they don't fit snug in place, never seen this before and they give you small pieces of sticky 2 sided tape to secure them. I also ordered MICCA 8" and they are far superior to these. All being said, they do sound pretty good for the price but not for a true home theater experience, but as a secondary area. Final thought, good sound for the price, shabby construction but expect what you pay for, and the sound is pretty good.

I like this brand. No problems installing
OK I do have a lot of experience installing things, these had a perfect template to cut the hole (make sure you know where your studs are. There are cheap "ball magnet"s on here that you can locate the screws of the studs with , allow at least another inch on either side for the flip up screws. Also use the tool to remove the grill, play with the screws to see how they work and position them correctly so they flip right when tightening, look at the side of the speaker trim and watch it tighten to the wall so as not to over-tighten) These replaced my BOSE speakers of the same cone size but sound BETTER. I have a cheap PYLE receiver for the back of my house and I love this brand. I just like to hear my music, and like records over digital. These are great, the sound is perfect for my small house with its small rooms, you are also NOT buying super high-end speakers here. What do you want? I got what I wanted and what paid for 100%.

Installation Warning - Hollow and muted range of music. Huge disappointment!
First, this was extremely difficult to install in the ceiling. I'm very good at DIY projects, so that is a mute point. Also, I'm an engineer, so I know a good design when I see it. This was a terrible design as far as the Quarter-Turn mounting method. The plastic Qtr-Turns MUST be pre-drilled first to get the threads to work sufficiently, otherwise the stop-post breaks when the Qtr-Turn rotates to the locked position. This happened on the first 2 attempts at rotating on the first speaker I tried to install the speaker in the opening before I took it down to figure out what was the problem. Once I pre-drilled, even after that, the flimsy tab that keeps the Qtr-Turn from dislodging from the back didn't work and allowed the Qtr-Turn to maneuver off-center so it would not engage the stop to enable the Qtr-Turn to screw down and allow the speaker to fully compress against the wall, AS IT SHOULD BE DESIGNED TO DO WITHOUT DIFFICULTY! Also, if you push too hard on the screw when you cinch up the quarter tun when mounting to the ceiling/wall, the plastic flange (which is part of the speaker) under the screw head will break. I had to get thin, oversized washers to under the screw head at that point. It took me 3 hours to install the 1st speaker and was only able to tighten with, somewhat, 4 Qtr-Turns. I also applied white caulking under the flange to assist with locking/adhesion so it would not fall down or rattle. The second speaker took me over an hour to install. The ONLY reason I did not return these is I already had the 2 cutouts in the wall. Second, the sound is genuinely terrible. There is Zero range, just Bass and sounds only like a subwoofer.. I'm very surprised that others have such positive reviews of these speakers. I bought them based on those reviews and the price. Geez, did I go wrong. If you're going to buy these, hook them up first so you can hear what they sound like first. If you're happy with the sound, I'd suggest you pre-drill the Qtr-Turns first, otherwise you'll find the install challenging. Seriously, Pyle is in need of a good redesign at least for the mounting system. You've been warned. Good luck!

The speakers were exactly what as expected with great sound quality.
The speakers were exactly what I expected. The sound quality is great and we no longer use an ugly soundbar. I also purchased the center speaker as well from the same company. They all fit perfectly within the studs and the enclosed back keeps the sound from being aimed into the next room. The instructions were clear and easy to understand. Looking at the other comments, I can see some people try to put the speakers in a horizontal position instead of the vertical position per the instructions which probably would work, but isn't recommended. The install took about 25 minutes. 1. Find and mark the locations of the studs in pencil (to remove marking later) with a studfinder 2. Decide where to place them. 3. Center and level before cutting the speaker holes 4. When placing them in the wall, pre-connect the speaker wires even if the space is open behind (makes it easier) 5. To install, carefully remove the metal covers with a small flathead screwdriver or pick. 6. Tightened the screws that lock it in place (no need to go too tight) and leveled them as you tighten the screws to get a perfect look. As you can see, they turned out perfect and the sound is far superior to the soundbar we used before.

Get what you pay for!
The plastic wall clips are very fragile, very little tightening needed before they break off. The sound was not as I expected. Sounds more like my iMac speakers mainly because these ported boxes have no internal acoustics to drive the sound out the port hole properly. My previous wall mount speakers had far better sound, but were not enclosed boxes and used the wall cavity and insulation for bass. Overall, gets the job done for the price, but if your looking rich clean sound these are the ones.

Great for the price!
I was definitely surprised by how well these speakers "couple" to the room, since this is my first in-wall installation. They arrived in perfect condition. I bought these because I needed enclosed speakers since one was going into an "open" wall and the other into a closed wall and I wanted the sound to match as close as possible. These speakers have a well balanced sound, but if you are expecting to rattle windows, you will need a subwoofer. I have my pair installed as back surrounds in a 5.1 system, and they work great for that. One caveat: I would definitely take a previous reviewers advice and thread the screws through the clamps BEFORE install to "cut the threads", since the clamps are not pre-threaded. This will save you from breaking the clamps during install. I did this by gently removing the clamps and holding them while I worked the screws through, then I popped the clamps back in.

HP mural
Bon prix 5 *****.

Great sound and discreet flush fitting speakers
These speakers are fantastic. Great frequency response . With the size of these speakers they are very discreet on the wall at head height. They blend in with the White wall covering and the metal front mesh is discreet as well. A must for a home cinema . No more unsightly tall floor standing speakers around the room now. These are the front pr of speakers. My other order is for 2 pr of pdic80 round ceiling speakers for the surround and rear surround. For the low price and high quality you have everything to meet your needs in this set up. I use a Yamaha surround sound amplifier with these.

For the price they are pretty good but the Tweeters aren't adjustable!
Speakers are pretty good for the price. Install was quick and relatively easy. I did have a problem with one speaker not sitting flush in the wall cavity but it may have to do with the actually wall as the other 3 did fit. These speakers are a lot thicker than the Polk RC85i’s I was originally planning on using. But for the price I couldn’t justify the more than double the cost for similar results. So far, the Only negative is they don’t have adjustable tweeters as stated. Install tip: As well before you install them tighten all the screws almost all the way first, then loosen them back up as they are quite stiff and this will make final install much easier. Just don’t over tighten the screws as they will break the mounting clips and you don’t want that happening. Also use a screwdriver instead of a drill as you have better control over how tight the screws get. Note: Their install instructions SUCK but there are some pretty good install videos online that you can watch and that will help you more!
