Turn on the gas at the bottle, then turn on a stove burner to insure gas is flowing. Turn off the burner then note the position of the needle on the gauge. Turn off the gas at the bottle; the needle on the gauge should indicate the same level of gas for 5 hours or more. This shows the system is maintaining pressure and no leaks without the gas being on. **Q: Will this work on the Rhino tanks (the ones where you swap out and get a new tank at the store, not the refillable ones)?** A: It will work just fine. A 20lb tank is a 20lb tank. Doesn’t make any difference if you rent one or buy one. This gauge works great, I’m glad I purchased it.
