The unit needs to be stood on perfectly flat surface to allow air in the bottom (the base is shaped) or the flame will go out.

A great product and fabulous customer service!
I tried a lot of things to solve the mosquito problem on our patio, but this is the first one that actually worked, eliminating the "no-see-um" mosquitoes that have tormented me. I turn it on each morning while making coffee, then go out with the dog and set it on the floor at my feet, and enjoy God's beautiful creation. My legs used to be covered in bites, but no more. It has worked flawlessly for 4 years. It just stopped working so I called the company with the details and they said I did everything right and so they are sending me a replacement. I was blown away. It's 4 years old! Now that's great customer service. Highly recommended for anyone living in mosquito country.

Very effective repellent
I really like the Thermacell Fuel-ZoneGuard Base Patio Shield Mosquito Repeller. My yard is absolutely infested with mosquitoes, and this is honestly the only thing I’ve found that makes a noticeable difference. It’s very effective at creating a comfortable area where I can actually enjoy being outside without constantly getting attacked by mosquitoes. I also love that it’s scent-free, because there’s no strong or unpleasant smell like you get with some bug sprays or repellents. It’s easy to use, provides great coverage, and has made spending time in my yard so much more enjoyable.
