Review: W&N Professional Watercolor Sable Brush and a pleasure to use...... - Wonderful W&N Professional Watercolor Sable Brush and a pleasure to use. I've gone back to W/C brushes that are a tad softer in touch and feel compared to that of a Princeton and/or Escoda only to realize a difference in my paintings. I've trusted any and all of the W&N watercolor products since 1958. This W&N Professional Watercolor Sable Brush feels a tad of the traditional aspects of w/c painting. I'm sure the artists in the Winslow Homer time frame had brushes of red sable...Think is shows in their paintings as one looks closely of their style of how just a brush stroke is laid down...soft feel to just that stroke. For me right now it's the #7 size W&N Professional Watercolor Sable Brush. Thank you:) Review: A+ for miniature painting - I have a growing collection of Windsor and Newton brushes and they're all fantastic. A little pricey but there's no arguing with the performance. Compared to Raphael 8404 and Artis Opus - it pains me to say it a little bit - but I vastly prefer the W&N. Have painted countless minis with a size 0, 1, and 2. Each brush performing well. Honestly, take care of the brushes and they'll take care of you and last you a long time. After each session I clean up with Masters brush soap and, despite the mess I make of the handles, the brushes hold their shape and tip flawlessly. Love them. Wish they were a bit cheaper, sure, but it's hard to argue with the quality.

Not recommended to order online.
No bristle guard of any kind, sable hairs were damaged and bent. Thrown loose into the box with other items from Amazon. Price tag stuck onto brush with sticky hard-to-remove glue. Just a total mess for what should be a fine high-end watercolor brush with a perfect sable tip. Poor quality, bad value.

Received the wrong brush
I ordered the W&N Professional Sable Brush in #00 and received the W&N Cotman brush in #00 which is a less expensive synthetic brush. I really need the size to complete some detail work on a project that is due Sunday night so I have to keep this but I'm pretty bummed out I paid more for a less expensive brush. I would normally submit an exchange but don't have the time to wait for the correct replacement. The brush was packaged with extreme care from the seller though and arrived on time in great condition, I just wish I'd received the one I ordered. The W&N brushes are all really great, I have several other sizes of the round ones and a few flat in the professional sable series that work really well and overall I'd recommend these. I've used along with the W&N gouache and the pans with success.

Stellar, professional quality brushes - but make sure you receive the natural version
I'm a professional artist and own this brush in sizes 12 and 7. I use them daily for much of my artwork, particularly the size 7s, of which I own three. They run smaller than the Series 7 brushes, which I also own and use, but are on par in terms of quality, in my experience, and don't lack in any way. For reference, the Professional size 12 is a little smaller than the Series 7 size 10 and the Professional size 7 is roughly the same size as the Series 7 size 6. It's also worth noting that when I've ordered these through Amazon, I've twice received the synthetic version, which has a dark blue handle (the Professional has a matte black handle, by contrast) and is marked 'Synthetic Sable.' If that happens, you should return it.

Excellent brush
Really like this brush. Not sure if it is a true sable but it feels like it. I got size 12 for bigger paintings. Hold a lot of water and very versatile.

excellent quality and affordable enough.
I love this brush for painting miniatures like warhammer. It is as good as my 7 series for models. Also great for watercoloring, very thirsty brush that holds well enough. The point never breaks and is very sharp. When dry the brush is fluffy, but that's normal for natural hair brushes. I think for watercolor portraits the series 7 is a bit easier to use. However for the price, this is one of the better brushes that I have used.

Major disappointment
I just used this brush for the first time. I does not dry to a shaped point. This is a huge problem. I cleaned it and shaped it to a point and hung it upside down to dry and it did not retain the shape after drying. I have used Winsor Newton series 7 brushes without this problem. I thought I would try the professional series hoping to save some money. What a mistake. I wanted to return it however, by the time I got a chance to use it, and decided I was not happy, the return window had closed. I'm stuck. The lesson I learned was check the return policy and test your brush as soon as possible. I have used Winsor Newton brushes for many years and have never been so disappointed.

Lovely little brush
Although I only use this for adding water to a drawing in watercolour pencils it is pleasant to have one that feels such good quality and comes to such a fine tip for detail, though for miniature work one would need a smaller one.

Good brush.
Good brush. Pleasant to use. I reckon it’ll last awhile. Buy one, I doubt you’d regret it.

Pennelli di alta qualità
Pennelli di ottima qualità e durata (se puliti con attenzione, meglio usare un sapone specifico). Restano un prodotto di alta gamma, anche se costoso. Consigliato per modellismo.
