Excellent hiking tool to add stability
We had a pair of the same poles approximately 8 years old and used one pole each for hiking in Colorado, Peru etc. After our last trip to Greece and our advancing age we felt we need two poles for better stability. We liked the pair we already had so we searched to see if they were still being made and were happy that they were. Ordered them and used them on a short hiking trip and then in Egypt when exploring their antiquities. Both the old pair and the new pair worked perfectly. They fit in your baggage easily so you can take them anywhere and once twisted tight to fit your height they never slip.

Folds to less than 16 inches
It took quite a bit of searching, but I did finally figure out that this "walking stick", "cane" or "trekking pole" folds down much smaller than many other trekking poles or walking sticks by others such as Leki. I measure the "Globetrotter" to fold down in two pieces tethered together to about 15-1/2 inches (39.4 cm). One section telescopes and has a flip lock to secure. The other section pops out and is secured by a plastic covered, wire cable tether. The walking stick extends to be plenty long to use like a cane. I'm 6'4" and I do not extend it fully when it's at a comfortable height. The flip lock is used to adjust the length of the walking stick. I'd say it will work well for adults 4'10" to 6'6" tall. Some people complain the Globetrotter collapses, but the same complaint is lodged against other "break-down" or "Z-fold" trekking poles (such as Black Diamond) that use a similar internal cable tether to tie pole sections together. You MUST fully extend the center section until a silver button pops out to lock in place. See photos. If you do not let the button lock, the center section will collapse. Unfortunately, there are not good directions on the packaging. I had to watch a YouTube video for my Black Diamond trekking poles to figure it out. There is a nice rubber tip on the end of the walking stick to protect flooring. No one else is currently making a trekking pole quality walking stick that collapses this compactly for travel. It's well worth getting your hands on one.

Awesome
These trekking poles are awesome. Super lightweight. I'm a big guy (240 lbs.) and I've been using them for a while. They have yet to collapse under my weight while I'm hiking. They have saved me from many falls. The cork handles are the best. The only thing that I think could be improved is the tab that holds the wrist strap in place could have rounded edges as it sometimes jabs the webbing of your hand between the thumb and index finger.
