Quest to find the right formula for 4m old twins
UPDATE (below ----- is my previous review) It's been almost a month since my previous review (4stars -1due to high price) and I wanted to come back for an update. I changed it to 5 stars because of an amazing story. Till now, the younger twin has been on 1/2 Gentlease and 1/2 Enspire VS The older twin 100% Enspire for about 5 weeks now. When I wrote the previous revie, the younger twin has already turned from back to his tummy (he was on 100%Gentlease and the older one had no intention of trying to turn (he was on Gerber Good Start Gentle+Similac Advanced). About 3 weeks into using Enspire, one day, the older twin managed to turn to the left and right and rolled over and over and over, all in one day and I have not been trying to teach him to do any of these! The younger twin, as of today, could roll but he still only turn from back to tummy from his left and he has trouble getting his arm out from his belly. I can't say if the get it all in one day miracle of the older twin was because he drank more Enspire than his younger brother, it probably can be just be a coincidence. But we were just so shocked by this and now we can't wait to finish the remaining 3 cans of Gentlease and have the younger twin on 100% Enspire. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have twin boys born at 36 weeks, June 1, 2016, 5.5lb each. They are formula fed exclusively from birth. We started with Similac Advanced ready to feed (what the hospital gave us), one of the boys (Baby A) is fine with it but the other (Baby B) gets constipated and his tummy seem to be very uncomfortable after 2 weeks of use on Similac. Then I switched baby B to Enfamil Gentlease ready to feed, it worked like a miracle! After first feeding, he was happy and calm and he drank it quickly with pleasure! Baby A didn't like Gentlease at all so I kept him on Advanced. Later, I read some reviews on Amazon and some reviewers stated that Gentlease has corn starch solids which may be a bad ingredient for babies, so I tried Gerber Gentle Good Start ready to feed. Baby B occasionally drink Gerber but it was obvious he prefers the taste Gentlease a lot more, so I had to keep him on Gentlease. Baby A drank Gerber Gentle almost all the time, but he still prefers Similac Advanced (drinks faster on Similac). About a week ago, I learned about Enfamil Enspire and decided to give it a try! Baby A LOOOOOOVES it as much as he loves Similac Advanced. Baby B still prefers Gentlease but I have him on 1/2 Enspire and 1/2 Gentlease and he's fine with it. I don't mind the extra cost because I want the best for my babies, to make it up to them that I'm not able to breastfeed them at all. I don't know if Enspire is really better to worth the extra cost but their advertised statement "our closest to breast milk" is just too powerful. Yes, I'm a sucker for advertisement and other people's reviews. My babies have been on 1) Similac Advanced ready to feed (from birth at hospital) 2) Enfamil Gentlease ready to feed & powder (for baby B, easy to mix, not foamy if you shake the bottle to mix, excellent bowl movement, less spit up/vomiting) 3) Similac Neosure ready to feed for premature babies (2 bottles of 32oz ready to feed) - it made both of them constipated and uncomfortable. 4) Gerber Good Start Gentle ready to feed (somehow both of them don't like it, I think it's the taste) 5) Enfamil Enspire powder ( CAUTION: VERY FOAMY if you shake the bottle, I use a chopstick to stir it instead to avoid the foam of tiny bubbles) (EXCELLENT, REGULAR POOP, NO PROJECTILE VOMITING SINCE I started on this a week ago, BABY B had problem keeping in Similac and Gerber, he had projectile vomit about once to twice a week, which is not that bad , but still scary!) I know it's crazy that they have already tried all these different formulas, but they gained weight really well, they are both at 15lb. now! It's amazing! I have only started the Enspire a week ago so I don't know if it will continue to help them thrive at gaining weight. I will come back to update in a month or two. I'm determined at this point to have them both stay on this formula. (eventually changing 1/2 Gentlease 1/2 Enspire to Enspire exclusively if Baby B would respond well to it)

If you can afford it this is the winner.
Let me start by saying this formula is likely not the "best tasting" one out there. "Best tasting" when it comes to food is often the worst when it comes to nutrition. If you're concerned about taste/smell this formula is probably not for you. I personally am un-bothered by the smell and only read the nutritional label when making my choice. If you're concerned about the quality of ingredients, don't want an obese child, and want to give your kid the best nutritional formula the US has to offer.... This product is for you. Secondly, I highly recommend ordering the refill packs on Amazon. Get your initial plastic tub from the grocery store then refill it the $55 box from Amazon. It's cheaper and you don't have to worry about seals being broken. This stuff is expensive.... But it helped develop my thriving 10-month-old who is talking, laughing, smiling, communicating, and hitting all of her physical milestones with ease. She was born 5 weeks early and we worried about her mental development. She was tiny and behind other babies at first in her milestones. Since my wife breastfed and could never keep up, this was initially recommended by our pediatrician to help supplement and eventually transition from breast milk. The lactoferrin and MFGM are the special ingredients along with lactose being it's only sweetener instead of corn syrup. The MFGM makes a big difference in mental development while the lactoferrin helps develop a healthy gut (which attributes to the loads of parents saying this is the only thing their little ones can keep down). These are the only two ingredients that set it apart from traditional formulas... and they truly make a world of difference. This stuff is great. If it is just a little too expensive check out Enfamil NeuroPro... Which is basically the same thing just minus the Lactoferrin (it still contains the brain developing MFGM). Hopefully next time our next child decides to stay in the belly full-term, the breastfeeding starts off on the right foot and continues through one year. If not, I won't think twice before using Enfamil Enspire again. It's truly a no-brainer and we are so grateful to Enfamil for developing this incredible formula.

Great formula โ gentle on babyโs tummy and mixes well
Weโve been using Enfamil Optimum for our baby and itโs been working really well. No issues with gas, spit-up, or tummy discomfort โ which was a huge relief finding our go to formula on the first try. It mixes smoothly (no weird clumps), and our baby took to the taste without any fuss. It also seems to keep them full and content between feedings. Honestly, itโs just been a great fit for us. Peace of mind knowing baby is getting good nutrition and it agrees with their system. Definitely recommend trying it if youโre looking for a quality formula thatโs easy on sensitive tummies.

Expensive but worth it
My little one likes this formula. I like how it does not have high fructose corn syrup in the ingredients. I really read the ingredients. She has been on this since birth and is now 6 months. No stomach issues. Very little spit up. It doesn't leave her gassy. I believe it's a better quality formula. It is expensive I will say that. It helps that enfamil sends coupons in the mail. $10 off really helps. I bought this formula for an awesome amazon deal. I was extremely happy I bought 3. The packaging is nice but I don't buy something based on that. I wasn't able to breastfeed my baby and this was a good alternative for us. It mixes well. Each container has been fresh and no issues. It comes in a sealed bag in the sealed container. Easy directions on how to mix (ounces of nursery water to scoops of formula). I use nursery water to mix. No issues warming formula. My daughter likes hers warm. No constipation with this formula. When she was a baby she was every other day. Now at six months she's everyday or twice with baby food. I really wish it wasn't so expensive to get high quality formula, but it is what it is. You can also contact enfamil and have them send you coupons. There are a lot of formula groups on facebook. Lots of coupon trading. Again, if your a mom that couldn't breastfeed this was a great formula. They also have the gentle version. I never had to use that. I'm happy with formula and will continue to buy

Pricey but Great!
Both of my babies have thrived on this formula and done so well on it. We accidentally switched formulas from a Similac to this cold turkey on one of my babies (miscommunication with husband) and thankfully, he did just fine. No issues at all. Way more pricey than some formulas but I think its the worth the cost- especially if you wait for sales or use coupons.

Just like breast milk for us.
I try to breastfeed and pump as often as I can, however I still find the need to supplement. I have turned to this brand, enfamil enspire to have on hand at my house. I have bought it from Target and Amazon so far. If you sign up for enfamil coupons, you can get $10 off at target for this type of formula. Also, when I bought on amazon, they were having a coupon that I was able to apply to it for $10. It's a newer formula, and they market it to be just like or closest to breast milk. I think they might be right. When I mix it up, which is the same way you would mix up the rest of your formulas, 2 oz of water to 1 scoop of powder, it doesn't come out as "thick" looking or heavy milk looking as some of the other formula's out there. It to me, looks more like the consistency of my breastmilk. Any way, my son, which is 5.5 months now does really well on it, when I don't have enough pumped milk to give him. I have had no problems with vomiting or spitting up episodes after a meal. Just the usualy little bit come back after a regular burp and some times none comes back, but that could be due to the fact that he has gotten older. On a related note... my boxer dog got into the baby formula and ate a 1/2 of the tub. She didn't even get diarrhea from it, which I thought was pretty neat to add. She didn't even get sick from consuming it. Oh, speaking of poop. My son had regular breast milk poops from it as well. They seedy kind for a while while one it, which I thought was interesting too. When we had him on gentle ease, they were thick poops.

Failure to thrive..... now THRIVING because of this formula.
Ive been meaning to write this review for a while now. After a very difficult, but not very long, pregnancy, my son was born premature at 30 weeks at 3lbs 7 oz. After feeling betrayed by my body with being able to incubate him to term, I was ABSOLUTELY DETERMINED to nurse him. For the first three months, managed to nurse exclusively, but once he made it out of NICU, and I went back to back, nursing became more and more difficult. I couldn't keep up, and my son wasn't growing. The suggestion from the pediatrician came that it was time to start supplementing. One bottle became two, became three, and my supply dwindled more and more. Unfortunately, he still was not growing. The problem was he was spitting up about 75% of everything he would drink. We were having to limit him to 3-4oz bottles, and he was holding down maybe half of that. We changed his outfit 4+ times a day, and never were more than a few feet away from a burp cloth. His doctors though it was reflux, and gave him medication to take 4x a day, but it didn't help. He simply was not gaining weight like he should have been. Yellow, Purple, Nutramagin, the preemie formula, nothing was "sticking". Then we wandered through Publix, and saw this on the shelf. My husband and I debated back and forth, because it was almost twice the price of the others, but ultimately we decided it was worth a shot right? Took him home, gave him a bottle, and waited. No spit up. Fluke right? Next bottle.......... No spit up. Next....... bigger bottle. No spit up. Literally instantaneously, he was holding his bottles down. Every once in a while, after a 5-6oz bottle, he'd burp and spit up some, but generally speaking, he wasn't PUKING like he had been. And he started gaining weight. My 7 month old who had still been wearing 0-3 month old clothes, had a major growth spurt, and jumped to the top end of 3-6 month old clothes. He was doing amazing!!! So we said, great maybe he's outgrown this! And we switched back to the yellow one. His first bottle, he threw up the entire thing. His second bottle, he threw up the entire thing. He never got a third bottle. I still have a practically full can of yellow Enfamil sitting on top of my microwave because I can't bring myself to give it to him. We've been using this formula for 7 weeks now. He's gained TWO POUNDS, and is up to 6-9 month old clothes. It is so expensive, and WIC doesn't cover it, so we struggle to keep up with the cost, but to see my son not crying, or puking for the first time in his life, is a miracle. His 10 month old check up was last week. For the first time in his life, he is on the charts. He is 1% for his age now. Thank you Enfamil.

Good stuff but pricey
Its the closest formula to breastmilk, but its not breastmilk! I have tried different Similac powders as well as Up and Up powder. I did not like these because I was unable to get the powder to dissolve completely even with vigorous shaking. I then switched to Enfamil Infant and loved it. With a few gentle shakes the powder would completely dissolve. With Enspire, I am also able to quickly make a bottle for my baby with out any problem. As far as paying full price for this I don't think it is worth it. I haven't noticed any difference in my baby since giving this to her: no spit up, constipation, being more or less hungry, etc. Although when I switched from breast Milk to Infant she was gassy for a while. She would fart when doing anything: laughing, crying, sleeping, relaxing. That only went on for about a week and now she's barely gassy. When I tried Enspire from Infant there was no gassiness due to introducing different formula. So I'm not sure if that correlates or not in any way. Overall, I like Enspire (as it is Enfamil) but I won't be paying $40 a tub for it!
