The Kimaru ACK-E5 DR-E5 DC Coupler is a very good dummy battery solution for the Canon XS. The coupler comes in 3 pieces. A wire for AC Mains => a Power Block => Dummy Battery. The AC wire goes from AC Mains to the Power Block. The Power Clonk is made of Plastic and feels rather light. This is not a bad or good thing. It is what it is. Weight is not an adequate indicator of quality or performance in the case of Power. Older technology uses transformers that are more heavy and less efficient. Newer technology uses switching Power supplies that are lighter. When the Power Block is connected to AC Mains successfully, a nice Blue LED turns on. :) From the power block a wire comes out. This wire ends in a small barrel jack plug. This barrel jack plugs into a small plastic "Dummy Battery" that was designed to fit inside the Canon XS. The Dummy battery fits perfectly into the Canon XS. Noteworthy is that you really do need to close the battery lid for this to work as indicated by the seller. It's true. Noteworthy as well as that a small space is needed for the Dummy Battery wire to come out of the Canon XS Body. The Canon XS has a small notch that is near the battery compartment for exactly such a a wire. Performance wise, the Kimaru ACK-E5 DR-E5 DC Coupler works flawlessly and is a perfect addition to a camera setup for all day usage! Very happy with the Kimaru ACK-E5 DR-E5 DC Coupler!
