Not bad for the cost
The FG-100 DDS generator is handy for casual testing of various projects (mostly in the audio range). If you are concerned about things like accuracy, jitter, rise and fall time, etc.. then this generator is not for you. It should not be used as a calibration standard... it's not that accurate. The display is a standard 16x2 LCD with a green backlight. The output can go as high as ยฑ10 volts (there is an internal voltage generator). The output filter really does nothing. The zero offset control works, but is rather useless. This little signal generator consists of an Atmel ATMega48v microcontroller driving an R2R ladder (8 bits) to generate the waveforms. The waveforms are precalculated and stored in the microcontroller's flash memory. A small loop written in tight assembler cranks the samples out to the R2R ladder to generate the signal. The rest of the code is ordinary C. You could easily add to the waveform library if you wish. Just generate it, store it to flash and add to the menu. The ATMega48v is clocked at 30.0 MHz. (!) which is way above it's spec, but it runs just fine and stable as ATMega's do. If you are an Arduino tinkerer and have a compiler and ICSP programmer, there is a third party program that you can program into an ATMega328p chip and improve the functionality of this generator (one handy feature being storing the last used settings in EEPROM so that the generator comes up the way it was last set. The buttons are also debounced much better). Search for "Alternate Firmware for FG-100". You will need the ATMega328p because the Mega48v doesn't have enough memory to add anything to the stock code. The 328 and 48 chips are, of course, pin compatible. All in all, this generator works great for what it is, and it's design makes tinkering with it or adding to it easy. It will be a both a useful tool and a fun platform to tinker with. I bought two of them, one to use and one to experiment with. I highly recommend it. Lots of fun! LOL!

Versatile and Reliable Signal Generator for Low-Frequency Applications
The Seesii 1Hz-500kHz DDS Functional Signal Generator is a compact and versatile tool designed for hobbyists, engineers, and educators needing reliable waveform generation. Supporting sine, triangle, square, and sawtooth waveforms, it is ideal for testing, troubleshooting, and educational demonstrations. I tested this device for signal generation in circuit analysis and audio system calibration. Pros: โ Wide Frequency Range: Covers 1Hz to 500kHz, accommodating most low-frequency applications. โ Multiple Waveforms: Sine, triangle, square, and sawtooth waveforms provide flexibility for various testing needs. โ User-Friendly Interface: Intuitive controls and a clear digital display make setup and adjustments straightforward. โ Compact Design: Lightweight and portable, making it easy to integrate into workspace setups. โ Cost-Effective: Offers excellent functionality at a competitive price point. Cons: โ Limited to Low Frequencies: While suitable for many tasks, it lacks support for higher-frequency applications beyond 500kHz. โ Build Quality: The plastic casing feels slightly less durable, potentially limiting long-term rugged use in harsh environments. Performance and Usability: The Seesii DDS Signal Generator performed reliably during testing, with accurate waveform generation across its frequency range. The signal stability was consistent, and the distortion levels for sine waves were within acceptable limits. Its ability to generate different waveforms smoothly with adjustable amplitude and frequency made it versatile for tasks like circuit tuning and teaching waveform concepts. The digital display is bright and easy to read, though the button placement could be more ergonomic. Comparison: Compared to similar products, such as the Koolertron 1Hz-500kHz signal generator, the Seesii device offers comparable functionality but at a slightly lower price point. However, higher-end models like Siglent function generators may provide additional features, such as higher frequency ranges and more robust casings, albeit at a higher cost. Who Is This For?: This signal generator is ideal for students, hobbyists, and professionals working on low-frequency applications who require a cost-effective and reliable tool for waveform generation. Itโs less suited for advanced users needing higher frequencies or more rugged equipment. Conclusion: The Seesii 1Hz-500kHz DDS Functional Signal Generator is a reliable and versatile tool for generating low-frequency waveforms. Its compact design, ease of use, and cost-efficiency make it an excellent choice for basic to intermediate signal generation tasks. However, users requiring high-frequency capabilities or more durable construction may need to explore higher-end models.

Great, inexpensive generator for basic tests and simple lab projects
If you have the right expectations, then you get exactly what you look for. This is a basic generator, great for simple tests or projects and also very cost effective. Very good compromise between cost and performance. Really simple to use.

Don't buy this. It's a waste of your time.
Lazy assembly, and no quality assurance at all it seems. On the unit I received, the display didn't work. That's because three of the four standoffs that mount the display to the circuit board were MISSING. I pushed the display back into it's socket to make it work, but the waveforms generated over 1khz are not acceptable in my opinion. The sine wave at 1khz is just OK, a little notchy but OK. Square wave at 1khz has lots of overshoot. But at 10khz and above, the waveforms deteriorate badly. At 100khz all waveforms (sine, square, sawtooth) look the same, which means bad. I don't mind doing a little DIY repair to same some money for something workable, but the quality of this unit was unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and save up for a better waveform generator. I wouldn't even trust this brand based on my experience, although the other brands are probably made in the same Chinese factories. The pictures show sine and square waves at 10khz.

Very impressed with the value and utility of this little signal generator
At this low price and compact size, it's crucial to know if it crosses the minimum threshold of functionality and utility. This product does easily satisfy all my essential functionality list items. Frequency accuracy, wave-shape, offset adjustment range, output amplitude range (Note that with only 5VDC input, the output range is several times that supply voltage level, and offset range is +/- full range). I'll be using this to some extent for most of my audio, ultrasonic and low frequency digital projects.

Does not work out of the box...
First off, plugged in usb/5V. Push the power button and the display lights up but with nothing displayed. Reading other reviews here, I decided to open up the box. I discovered that the display was not fully seated into its header. This is because the designer took a shortcut and decided that only one screw at one corner was needed - wrong!. Subsequently in shipping it came loose. So bad on its designer. It is now working with the LCD display fully seated. Have yet to use it in actual circuit.

Does what intended to do
Note: This is not an high amplified audio signal its just a generator. It can drive a small piezoelectric speaker to resonance. When using it to generate high frequency test signals, working as intended. Has many waveform modes. can ne used to calibrate test equipment or study wave forms.

It is a good value for the money but there are limitations!
I should have checked this unit more thoroughly upon receipt as I might have returned it. I really didn't use it extensively until after the 30 day return limit. It is okay for general use, but for quality audio testing you need to be aware of some limitations. I have attached several waveforms captured with a 200 MHz oscilloscope to illustrate some issues to be aware of. 1) In the first waveform with a 1 kHz sine wave, note that it is heavily digitized. No surprise here, just understand if you are testing for harmonic distortion in say an audio mixer board this is not your audio generator to use. 2) The 2nd waveform shows the output of the generator set for 2.2 V peak-peak (P-P) but the output is not yet loaded at its characteristic impedance. 3) The 3rd waveform shows the waveform at the same output settings but with the output loaded. Note that the output waveform P-P level has dropped and the bottom of the sine wave is flattened (2nd order distortion). A good quality audio generator should maintain its level whether terminated or un-terminated. The output level of the generator can be raised back to the 2.2 V P-P with most of then gone, but one should not have to continually readjust the output control as load impedances are changed. I'm giving this unit 4 out of 5 stars, as I keep reminding myself I only paid $30 for it; but it's basically useless for sound system testing due to the excessive digitizing and lack of level/waveform stability in the generator output stage.

Great value for your money
This function generator is about value for money, not accuracy or quality. The interface could use some improvement, but it gets the job done.

The voltage knob presented a fault, it did not give voltage, when trying to turn the knob, it would give voltage signals but when the knob was released it stopped working.
