The description says these mouse pads are 9x7.5 inches, but what is the width of the narrow end of the mousepad? And how long is that narrow section?

Narrowest end is 4 3/4" with the actual wrist support being 4 1/2". About 2" long for narrowest section

Why can I only buy one?

This particular one is sold as a set. For the price it is a great deal since you get two. Great buy, I use one which is fine, and I have the other one as a backup, or I can gift it to someone. It's a bargain getting 2 for the price of one.

Anyone have a problem with off-gasing? They've been outside for 3 days & still stink. Any tips/hints? Thank you.

I never noticed off-gassing for these. Perhaps you can do a search on Pinterest for getting rid of plastic stink. I am using mine as I type. The other one is being used at my children's computer and they never complained about a bad smell. good luck!

Comfortable for keeping your wrist raised when using a mouse

It's really important to keep your wrist slightly raised when using a mouse and/or keyboard. This reduces the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome. And the silicone raised part is soft and comfortable. My son got me this one after my other one got bedraggled. I'm a gardener, so the flower pattern is perfect.
