does it have gluten free mode?

Download the Norton Anti-Gluten app from either the Apple Store or Google Play.  It plugs into the USB3.0 port at the base of the popper. The free version is pretty good, but if your allergies are severe go for the gold edition, the extras $99 is worth every penny.  Google had a deluxe 20th anniversary edition that includes and  EpiPen but I don't think its still available.

Does popping corn in this make the popcorn moist or soggy or is it dry like in the carnival style machines?

I am looking for a new machine, ours just burned out on us Friday night - after it did its chore for us and the grand kids (7 and 9). We have always used about 1/4 cup of oil (redenbacker popcorn oil if we can find it - or - Veggie oil mixed with some butter). About 1/2 cup of Redenbacker or another cauliflower (premium carnival and movie theater popping corn) popcorn. We DO NOT use the butter cap on the top of the vent. Let it vent out the moisture and stuff. Don't clog up those vent holes with butter. We use the microwave to melt and pour on additional butter. I have never - since I first started using this popper in the 80's -- never had soggy or moist popcorn. I was in the service - my job entailed working in a room with no windows and 13 or 15 of us at a time. We popped using this tool for 1/2 of my 20 years. Thru 2 wars/actions - and a couple times per 12 hour shift. Fast and easy and easy clean up. Since the 80's ... this is my second machine - getting ready for my third. DON'T use the cap on it and don't use the butter melting suggestions - the popcorn will be done before the butter is melted.

900 - 1000 watts 120 volt electric to power the popper.

Is there a lip around the edge that prevents the oil on the cover from dripping back in or does it get recycled by going back down into the base?

Accepted Answer

There is no lip on the inside of the cover. The cover sets inside of a lip in the base that prevents oil from escaping and making a mess. I've used my popper several times now, it's works great and no mess.
