I tend to buy something when I find it to be a good value, which made me worry about this product. At 56% off (I bought this for $13.16) I was worried it may not be 'official SONY merchandise'. Especially as the image of the item varied greatly from the adapter / charger that came with my 3000 system. However, when the item arrived I found that this was for the better. An issue of 'you get what you pay for'. The adapter I got 'free' with my system was very bare bones. Just what you needed to get the job done. The wiring that gave out on my initial adapter was thin and it tore in the cord casing quickly and without any heavy wear or abuse. The MSRP $30 cord, however, is nice and thick. Seems well insulated. Sturdy. If you're worried this doesn't look like the adapter you got with your system, don't. It's better. The $30 MSRP on it is a bit steep, but this item seems so far to be of higher quality and worth the price tag. If you prefer to buy SONY branded items for your SONY products, not only is this the only way to go but it's also a reasonable purchase.
