(My walls are 16 and 24 foot peaks and all wood including open beamed ceilings and rafters. All wood is fairly smooth but the rafters and exposed beams are very rough. This creates quite the challenge. I've been cleaning them for 20 years this year. At 70 soon to be 71 yes those ladders and in my case heights are getting a bit much. I did buy a 17 foot adjustable scaffold 4 years ago and the company did a bait and switch and I ended up with a steele one not the aluminum lighter set ordered. They refunded a lot of money but would not take it back without all kinds of nonsense so we settled for the partial refund. So to build this up to 12 feet minimum I need even is a bit too much for me. I can do it but as you state getting a bit old for that. However I have balance issues and the scaffold at 6 feet long and 2 feet wide is a lot sure footed than not. And the height does adjust every few inches and I can climb down onto it from the upstairs third floor balcony of all things which is great as climbing it using i'ts trap doors has to be done by ladder for me. Hubby at 6 feet can use a step stool. I'm 5'2" and nope need a small ladder or a ladder up to the upper most as I do not like climbing the actual scafolding frame which can be done. Meantime we live in the rural MT upper Rockies and not much chance of selling it off to try again for an aluminum model and fear they would just pull the same thing again. It was unloaded and the driver said he would not take it back until the company said they would accept that. Of course that's when the fun began. Ok the version I am using to wash my wall is identical in size to this and works similar on 45" poles they come with but the duster has more of a larger chenile than this and is sold as a car wash mop. I have it in orange for washing and green for rinsing and this way someone can wring out the mop heads below and hand them up to me on the extention pole. I also do have 2 other longer extention poles which work with them too. One is a 23 foot one and no way is it practical for me to use at that length. Maybe 12 to 14 feet is ok but not fully extended. I'm not strong enough to hold it steady when too far extended. So yes I get on a ladder or something to get me up there and like to have someone hand me the clean wash or rinse but squeezed out mop heads already on their handles for me to use and then hand back down to them below. I am thinking of spraying clear matte acrylic spray on the wood walls this year once I clean them well this year. That might help with washing later and also help with the sloughing off of the fiberous dust it seems to build up each year I don't wash that high and the ceilings too. I'm not fearful of heights having been caving since 13 and met my husband of 49 years this Feb caving and climbing in the 70's. Anyway it's my job to figure out how to do these things as he'll say he'll help but he either doesn't or makes it into an arguement that goes no where. So I was looking at this today to see if it would help just dusting once I put the acrylic spray on the walls. BUT I think I have better choices already. I have a number of wonderful full fluffy big wool dusters but they can get snagged on any of the rough wood but I doubt this wouldn't be similar. And I have not tried to use the larger chenille mop heads for just dusting and they may work fine for that too. Only bought to wash. I've done a few test spots about home as most of the house is wood walls but the normal 8 foot height. So may I suggest you look at the less expensive version first some as low as under 11 dollars and if that seems to work then buy set of two and ask for help to wring out dirty wash ones and rinse ones and hand as needed as you do the cleaning itself. That's my plan for later this spring. I want to be able to have the windows and doors open to apply the paint.
