I bought it to teach my kid a few things - 1. the method is not given to you (this is not a textbook, it is a practice book) 2. you have to apply your head to attain the solution; it is not a simple plug-in and spit out the answer type of book 3. there may be more than one way to get to the answer and most importantly of all... 4. the answer key will not show you how to get to the answer; it will only tell you if your answer is right. There is definitely parent involvement required for this book. I don't want my kid to be satisfied with getting the correct answers. We sit down and discuss how to solve a problem; then, I ask her to solve a similar one and see if she has understood the concept - applying the method for the previous problem may not work for the new one. She is forced to use her logic skills. That is exactly what I wanted. I could not be happier! Worth every penny for us!
