OEM compressor. Great pump.

OEM ≠ better
After 6 months it’s locked up. Clutch won’t spin and if I turn the ac on it makes a loud noise with smoke coming from the pulley area. AC no longer works, paid extra money for OEM for JUNK!! It said it came pre oiled which I even added a couple more ounces to my system to be safe too.

It’s motorcraft but I’m slightly disappointed
I try to only use motorcraft on my 97 Ford F-350 with a 7.3 powerstroke. So when my old compressor clutch bearings failed I wanted oem quality. My reason for the 3 stars is the compressor is stamped motorcraft and packaged motorcraft but the compressor is also stamped made in China, quite disappointed in motorcraft for that. Usually all motorcraft parts I’ve gotten are made in US or Mexico but not this. I assume it’s still good quality, at least I hope. It bolted rite up to my 7.3. For those asking the same questions as I was, this compressor is shipped FULLY CHARGED WITH 7oz OIL. In the box it comes with a detailed booklet that runs through charging the system and how to figure out how much oil your system needs and if you need to drain any out of the new compressor. Read the booklet before installing. It’s only in the 50’s in my area rite now so in a couple months I’ll update my experiences once it warms up here and I can fine tune the pressures and see how this compressor does. Last summer my ac system was like a meat locker in the cab and hope to achieve the same outcome with this compressor but only time will tell.

Replace O-Rings before installing
Price was great, however O-rings were bad and should be replaced before installing. The unit I received was a genuine Motorcraft unit.
