Chattanooga Theratherm Digital Moist Heating Pad, Medium (14" x 14")

This is a great product for people with shoulders and lower neck pain. The shape is perfect for the shoulders and the lower neck. It doesn't really get very high on your neck but you should be able to see that from the photo. I didn't not have the problems other people had with it shutting off and it seems to stay on the entire time I set it for. Also this product remembered what I had it set to before but only while its plugged in which makes it almost useless because who would leave a heating device plugged in all the time? I don't see this as a big problem however as the settings move very fast if you hold them down so you can reset it quickly. The instructions are very long and filled with information that could follow the instructions. Here are the basic steps: 1. HOLD the on/off button to turn it on 2. Set and set the temp 3. Press "select" 4. Enter the time 5. PRESS the on/off button to start heating While I really like the device and the shape makes it perfect regardless of these issues I would like them to fix them: PROS: 1. Wonderful shape. The "U" shape is great for my shoulders and lower neck (See cons too). 2. Weight. It is just heavy enough to hold itself down but not make it hard to sit up. It seems to stay in place even when I move around at my desk and when I am sitting on the couch. 3. Temp control is great. My wife doesn't like it as hot so it is great for her to just lower the temp. CONS: 1. It doesn't get to 166 degrees. After using it for a while I could clearly tell it would get very hot but not 160 degrees. I tested this with two different measurement tools. That is not to say that it isn't the perfect temp for most of the time however I would like it to actually reach its stated temp so I could do some deep heat therapy. 2. I wish it would cover higher on the neck but that might take away from the solders so it is maybe a pro/con. Also it is either velcroed together for the neck or open for the shoulders. I wish it was just a little larger to cover both. That may not be an issue if you are small than me as I have very broad shoulders and am very tall. In face it actually fits very well considering my height so maybe this is more of a pro! Despite the cons this is a wonderful item and I cannot recommend it enough.

I use this every day. I have it next to my computer and several times a day I wear it for shoulder and neck pain. There is a small flap that allows you to get some heat on your neck as well as shoulders and mid-back. Some days I really like heat so I set the temperature for 145degrees F, other days I like it less hot at 125 degreesF . You can dial in any temperature up to 167 degrees F). I discovered it at the chiropractor's, she has both the flat and neck theratherm digital moist heating pad and said it was the only ones she would use and it helped her customers so much. She put it on your back for a few minutes before adjusting you. There really is moisture that it draws out of the air and you can feel damp heat on your skin which is the most healing type. I got several for friends last Christmas and they just love them. One friend does a lot of sewing and says it has helped her immensely with her sore back and neck. I can't say enough about this product as it has made a great difference in my being able to work at the computer and not have my shoulders and neck hurt. I just set the timer to 30 minutes or so, set the temperature, and enjoy using it while I work.

Expensive, but worth it! I love this heating pad - I've used one like it for years at my chiropractor's office, so I know it is "professional grade." Please note, however, that the 23x20 size is NOT rectangular, though you will not find an accurate description of it anywhere on the page. I ordered this size, which is supposed to be for the "shoulder and neck". Never did I suspect that it was U-shaped! The photo on the page and on the box shows a rectangular shaped pad. Not until I opened it (admittedly after the 3 days specified for redress - hey, it was a Christmas gift) did I discover that it had a huge cut-out! We needed it for general use, so this shape was useless to us. Unfortunately, the third-party seller (it's not sold directly by Amazon) refused to refund or exchange it because it was not "hygenic" to do so - never mind that it was absolutely unused! The customer service department was resolute that I was simply stuck with it. The story has a happy ending, however. Immediately after I filed a claim with Amazon, I got a phone call from the president of the company (Medical Department Stores), who offered to exchange it for another size. He sent one out right away, even paid extra for Saturday delivery. Now I am happy, and my daughter is experiencing warm pain relief for her Lyme disease, thanks to this great product and a very reasonable company president.

This item was shipped to me and is not returnable. I received a broken and used heating pad that does not work at all. I am stuck with it and have no recourse. I am highly disappointed and will never order this brand again as a result of receiving a dead heating pad with a cover that clearly looks used with little fuzz balls on it. I have other heating pads by this manufacturer which are wonderful, but this bad apple had destroyed my faith in the heating pad, the merchant, and the manufacturer. It is unconscionable that Amazon as well as this money hungry seller will not stand behind a product that arrived DEFUNCT! Shame on you both! I will have to find another brand to buy that hopefully goes as hot as this one can but has longer than 30 minutes. To note, this is my fifth purchase of THIS EXACT heating pad in about four years. I am a heavy user. All the other ones lasted from 6-9 months. I have similar experience with other sizes as well. I wish this heating pad actually was built to last, because when it operates, it is best heating pad I have ever found. #verydisappointed

I spend a lot of time at a computer and forget I'm hunching my shoulders over so they often ache. I tried using my back heating pad and wrapping it around my shoulders but it wasn't flexible enough so didn't work well so I bought this one. The picture doesn't show the right one but it has a two pieces that come over your shoulders with a Velcro piece to hold the heating pad securely on. across your chest You don't really need the Velcro so I leave I undone. The temperature is adjustable as is the time and with the moist heating pads, you always get better results. The only thing I've struggled with this one is that I have to turn the heat up higher. When I use the back heating pad the pressure of the chair keeps it where it needs to be and so the heat gets 'pushed' into my back. With this, there is no way to keep any pressure on the heating pad so I turn the heat up. If I hold it against my shoulders it penetrates more but holding it isn't comfortable for any length of time. I don't think this is something that could be resolved in any design but it is something I noticed as a difference between the back and shoulder pad heating pad. What I would love to see is one like this with a longer back so you could get shoulder and back heat in one pad.

Every time I have a period, I have horrible cramps. This is the perfect size and shape to lay across my hurting abdomen, and I love love love the heat therapy! It seriously helps with the pain. I like that you can change the temperature and set the timer for up to an hour. That's a good time for a cutoff, to prevent burns while still helping for as long as humanly tolerated. I've had many heating pads and bottles over the years, and this one is by far the best. I've had it for about 5 years and it still works like a dream! Totally worth the money (I was very broke at the time but desperate for heat therapy to help with my cramps. So worth it.)

Way too small and too costly

Bought my first three years ago, used it so much I wore out the connection on the power button. Now I'm buying a replacement. If that's not an endorsement, I don't know what is. POSITIVES: * This heating pad heats up quickly and maintains a consistent temperature- which you can set down to the specific degree, rather than getting stuck with a couple of presets to choose from. * The cover is washable. * The heating pad itself has a decent heft to it, which helps it stay in place. * It doesn't really cover the neck, like it says it does, just the shoulders. * The one-hour safety shutoff is a little annoying, but honestly probably a good idea? * It beeps when you plug it in, when you turn it on, when you adjust a setting, and when it completes a cycle. These beeps can be a bit obnoxious if you, say, have a sleeping partner next to you, but are not all that loud. * As indicated above, the contact on the power button wore out after 3 years of (pretty heavy) use. Obviously, I consider the positives to outweigh the negatives, but YMMV. Enjoy!

A good size for smaller joints, I use it for my wrist and hands. The large size would be too big for that, making the small a little more versatile. High quality materials. As for complaints on them not lasting, it depends on how you care for it and use it/store it. There will always be lemons in the batch, but this was worth the risk. The pad gives unparalleled deep moist heat and is very easy to use. I love it and I’m glad I spent the extra on the brand. Works great for carpal tunnel pain relief, would for for other ailments. The only I wish it could go a slight bit warmer, but it’s not a deal breaker.

I love it. It is large enough to cover a good part of your back which is great. It heats up quickly and I love that you can change the timer to 60 minutes.

Este cojín caliente húmedo es una maravilla. Mis padres lo usan por la artritis y es realmente excelente para ellos. Yo lo uso si me lastimo la espalda y con un par de días de usarlo el músculo se relaja y sigo adelante. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.
