I found them to be very straightforward. This device is perfect for timing up to two intervals. The frequency setting in Pace mode was a little tricky. If you are pacing steps, and you want the frequency/footfall of each step to be every second, set the frequency for 0060. That’s a pace of 60 [units/steps] per minute. Think of it like beats per minute on a metronome. It doesn’t. The instructions seem to be written by an engineer and then translated into English from another language. They are generous in quantity, but not in clarity. There have been remarks in other reviews that it is difficult to program at first. It’s really not so bad. I suspect they were simply befuddled by the instructions. The buttons are labeled well, and the display is easier to understand.
