A regular tamping bar weighs 17. **Q: Is there a shorter version - 48”?** A: Due to steel allocations we have not been able to produce the 48" tool this season. The tool is one solid piece of steel. **Q: Can you use a sledge hammer to drive it through roots? Please only answer if you know for sure.** A: As long as you keep the edge sharp it works very well. It requires some strength as it becomes very heavy to the arms after using for a while.
