Take out of box, remove packing, plug in. It is very functional since it’s a coffee maker. Coffe stays hot. The pot and filter are easy to clean, rest of coffee maker not so much. Now, I had the original design for my first coffeemaker, and I have noticed a couple things since I received this. One, as someone else had stated, depends on the grind of coffee as to if you receive 3 cups or 5 cups one brewing. The fine or the ground, the less coffee in the pot and debatable if you try and add water to make an additional half pot. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. The coffee pot itself, I’m really not sure what they changed on the design unless it’s on the coffee maker, but I have noticed that depending on how you were holding it, depends on whether or not it poured straight or if it “leaks” from the pour spout. I’m not too sure about the redesign. It’s not as small as previous version, and at least with the old one, if I decided to pour a cup early, it stopped filling the pot. Not now. My fault, I saw it in the description, but I guess it didn’t register. Personally, I love Amazon Basics, but this was more of a miss than a hit.
