If you don't already have a magnetic build platform then BUY ONE. You will not regret it. It's best thing that's happened to 3D printing in the last few years.This spring steel sheet is coated with Kapton tape on one side. This is the side to place down on the magnetic Maghold built platform. The Kapton protects the steel from corrosion. The other side is used for your custom build surfaces. The steel sheet works with things like BuildTak straight away, but you can put anything you like on it. Almost anything will attach to it using 3M 468MP tape.If you're like me and you prefer printing ABS on PEI, you can attach a PEI sheet to one of these spring steel sheets using 3M 468MP tape. This works really well. I've been able to print very large ABS parts on the PEI attached to the spring steel and the parts did not lift at all. The Maghold magnet holds the PEI down completely flat while printing, and the ABS sticks to it like glue at 105 C. During the print, despite the ABS wanting to lift, it will not detach from the PEI at all, so the lifting forces transfer to the PEI, but the PEI will not detach from the steel sheet because of the 3M 468 MP tape, and the steel sheet will not lift from the magnets on the Maghold build platform. So even though the ABS wants to lift it simply cannot lift and stays put. After printing, I let it cool a bit, and then flex the spring steel and the ABS prints slide right off the PEI. WOW! This is the best print surface solution I have ever seen available anywhere!I can use these sheets over and over. I have not had any problem with them bending. They do have a very slight bend to them, but when they are on the magnetic build plate, they sit perfectly flat.I highly recommend using a magnetic build surface. Get this and the Maghold. Once you try it you'll wonder how you ever lived without it! I had to remove two stars because the descriptions says that it comes with a MaddGrip build sheet and it does not. There is one that does include it, but it was not clear that his one did not. I do wish I get a Buildtak sheet on it. I also notice they tends to be small rust spots on the sheets. It would not affect print quality or anything but thought you should know.
