THE ANIMATRONICS HAVE DEADLY INTENT
One of those rarities these days 'A 2021 MOVIE'Must admit, at one time Nicolas Cage was indeed among my favourite actorswith his early offerings, the guy can act, however, in recent years the roles, wellmost that he's become involved in are let's say somewhat. disappointing..In this one, not only does he have little need to learn a script, all he really has to dois look stern and indeed unconcerned, a little to laid-back I feel.As a drifter he becomes a victim of a deliberate act when he drives over a spike-strip,on hand to save the day a motor mechanic comes to the rescue? He is taken to the local town where he learns that the repairs will cost him $1000, money frankly he doesn't have. The mechanic takes him to the once thriving entertainment centre Willys Wonderland where it's owner offers to pay the cost of repairs if overnight, he can clean the place up.Whilst outside he witnesses a young girl Liv (Emily Tosta) being arrested outside the centre by the sheriff (Liv's Guardian) when the youngster tries to torch the Wonderland....but, why?Well, needing his car the now overnight Janitor accepts the task.He sets about sprucing the mess it's in up, but vaguely becomes increasingly aware of the eight animatronic beings that he'll learn seem to have a mind of their own along with deadly intent.Meanwhile Liv who has been locked in a confined area by the sheriff is freed by her friends who she'll convince to assist her in torching Willy Wonderland. However, Liv realizes that the guy now janitor must be helped to escape before it is burnt down, getting in the locked-up building is one thing getting back our another, realizing there is a problem Liv's friends go inside the centre to help their friend.Big mistake...the animatronics target the youngsters; Liv tries to fight the evil off and is rescued when he'd finished drinking his can from the supply by the drifter. The sheriff and deputy that had earlier been called in for help become the next targets of the evil. Will the drifter who appears unafraid and Liv escape the building?Has the Janitor realized he'd been set-up purely to be killed?Does he get his car back? With a twist in the tail the comedy-horror winds down, not a brilliant watch though I guess you'd say it does have its moments.Just hope Nicolas Cage finds his way back to making movies that challenge his undoubted talent.FOOTNOTE -5-STAR MOVIES WATCHED RECENTLY previously reviewed -(Purchased and watched on 4k) 'THE TEN COMMANDMENTS' (well worth the upgrade investment)* A BRIDGE TOO FAR (always worth an occasional viewing)* IN BRUGES (arguably one of Colin Farrell's finest performances),

Nic Cage Vs. Animatronic Toys
Kid of bizarre this one. If you've seen Banana Splits: The Movie you'll have an idea what to expect. Now, try Imagining Nic Cage wandering into Banana Splits: The Movie and attacking the characters in between bouts of guzzling energy drinks and playing pinball, and you'll really know what to expect.Plot: Nic Cage is hired as a janitor (he's referred to in the credits as The Janitor) to tidy up Willy's Wonderland (he needs cash after his car lands in the shop). While going about his business, he's attacked by large animatronic toys, and savagely kills them. And that's it.Well, kind of. There's slightly more to things than that, but the plot really is ridiculous, and only really serves to slow down the action. Not that the film doesn't have a lot going on. It does. But the plot gets in the way because all you want to see is the crazy action.Forgot to mention: there's also a bunch of teens -- Scooby Doo style -- who exist primarily to be killed. But you don't care about them, because, let's be honest, the only reason you're reading this is because you want to know if Nic Cage fighting full sized animatronic toys is as hilarious as it sounds. Well, I can tell you that it is - on first viewing, at least. When I came around to watching it a second time (again, with company and fully intoxicated), I realized just how frustrating the useless plot is (it has more holes than a lump of swiss cheese rolling around in a sieve). The film looks slick enough (too much post lens flare added, however), and sounds ok. The actors go through the motions, doing just enough to get by (they're ok). Plucky lead girl commits to the role and does a servicable job. The gore effects are well done, and, as a novelty film, it is funny on its first viewing. So, a generous 4 stars for a first watch, knocked down to maybe 3 stars for subsequent viewings.

Can't beat a Nick Cage film!
When I first heard of this film, I thought it seemed kinda odd? Then when I watched it I realised it's like a five nights at Freddy's film but I thought it was the most funniest film I've seen in awhile!

"We got chicken ****"
It may sound like a clichรฉ now to say "Nic at his maddest" or "pure Cage madness"..... But is it? Think about it, we have no problems in refering to a Stallone or Arnie films as "Stallone or Arnie films". But there is now in our modern culture as "A Nicolas Cage film"....or performance. He brings his all to everything he does and is always on overdrive. One of the best and hard working actors ever. He has the ability to make everything original, which in turn makes film makers bring him projects that only Cage can bring to life, hence "A Nicolas Cage film!" And with Willy's Wonderland, it's no different. Cage plays a drifter who has car trouble but can't pay for the repairs so agrees to clean up an abandoned indoor children's play park. Its actually like a sister company to The Titty Twister. All hell breaks loose with the anamatronics coming to life with murderous intent. It's all very cleverly executed, sinister, hugely entertaining and well made. Nic as The Janitor does not utter a word throughout the film which works perfectly. When I was watching I just knew that Cage, the professional he is, would have approached this character the same way he would do with dialogue. There is so much going on with him behind the eyes. Every gesture and movement is thought out to the last detail. After watching Willy's Wonderland I watched the special features, and you know what.....it was as I had spotted, Nic Cage had done exactly that with his acting skills. To summarize, WW is a crossbreed of films.... Maximum Overdrive, Child's Play, From Dusk Till Dawn and the man with no name Clint Eastwood character. With a brilliant soundtrack to go with it.
