Poor fitment, quality hardware
After buying Monroe road magics and not fitting I had to try this brand that the shop didn't say to buy, they said buy Monroe loaded like I first bought. This brand cost more, almost double, but they fit as they should with a lot of effort and extra hands and pry bars to lower the suspension arm down and large screwdrivers to try to help align the holes. There was no way I could install these alone at all. Note about the non threaded holes for brake hose and for speed sensor cable, the old bolt cuts new threads into non threaded holes and works perfectly. No need to get upset and run to hardware store for different bolts. The springs on these had the same amount of turns as stock and the bellow cover everything unlike Monroe. The only way either brand struts would be plug n play is if they were about an inch and a half shorter. Even with a 3 foot pry bar I could only move the control arm down about three quarters of and inch. I almost was going to rent spring compressors to get these installed. They appear to be of decent quality for a no name brand to me. Time will tell how well they are built. The ride will always raise your vehicle because coil springs sag with time. My application was replacing stock twenty year old struts that had a failed lower spring support the allowed the spring and lower support to sit and ride on top of shoulder of drivers side tire. It rusted out where the weld is that hold the cradle to the strut. I did notice with both brands the placement of the steer knuckle clamp was lower on the strut than stock oem was. Monroe was off the most. There are not enough buying options to find the exact fitment as oem, so we made these fit. Other than installing them and fitment issues, the wrong length will only affect the half axle and tie rods when the car is hoisted off of the ground. I did install springs over shocks new on back of the car when we first bought it as the rear air ride shocks were blown out. They raised the rear of the car a lot, so now the car sits up evenly with new coil springs in the front. I was glad these struts were sold as a pair as they should match the closest in ride and it forces you to replace both as they should be. So far all is good. Should they fail, I'll be back to update for you.

Better than original
Good looking units, they seem to be well made. I installed them on my 2010 F150 6 months ago and they restored the ride and ride height to better than original. Itโs a little bit of work to install them but thatโs due to the design of the truck.

Not this time
I ordered Detroit Axle struts for a 2007 Dodge Caliber. Iโve used Detroit Axle parts often, from wheel bearings to shocks and they have always fit and lasted. Iโll continue to use their parts, but this time things did not work. The struts I purchased did not fit. There was two main issues. First, they were to long, if you measure from the top of the strut tower to the center of the top bolt they were 1 inch longer than their eventual replacements. This made the car sit way high in front. Like silly high. You might not think 1 inch would make a huge difference but it did. So thereโs hope for all of us. Second, and the worst thing, the springs rubbed the inner fender, badly. Turns out the springs were considerably fatter than than the replacements so at every turn and bump they rubbed terribly. I couldnโt figure out what was making so much noise so a few searches and online forums later I ended up purchasing replacement Monroe struts locally. I actually brought the D. Axle strut into the store to compare and it looked to us like the spring was incorrectly installed upside down at the factory especially because the replacement Monroe springs were clearly marked โtopโ. So I bought the Monroeโs and switched them out. Car drives perfect now, no clangs and bangs and horrible rubbing sounds now. I had an alignment done and I have to say the car drives great now. With Monroe struts in the front and Detroit Axle shocks in back. I tried returning these, but I didnโt have the box, and I had installed and used them. Even still, Detroit Axle refunded me $10 of a $150 purchase. My wife and I had a good laugh, because it only cost us $140 to drive 2 miles on those struts. Iโll still use Detroit Axle, but Iโll be cautious to look over the specs before installing, and always keep the box.

Name says it all
This product is made by Detroit Axle you can find cheaper but not better. I am a retired Automotive Tech and have trusted this brand to deliver quality parts at a reasonable price. This product is a complete assembly, still if you do not possess good functional tools have your Automotive Service center do the job. This is not a light item and as such comes properly packaged very descriptive as to its looks and function. Alignment after repairs or replacement should be part of this procedure. This company will stand behind its products and as stated earlier this is quality OEM standard at less than most manufacturers pricing. It is designed to fit first time with no weird modifications or add on spacers but remember it all begins with Year Make and Model. I am doing a front end upgrade and using not only Detroit Axle Strut assemblies but both Control Arms too all from Detroit Axle. They are due to go on within a couple weeks nephews garage is ready and Maritime weather is starting to turn for the better and fishing, spring clay shoots, plus other outdoor adventures await. Next year the back end with Detroit Axle leading the way. 5 stars plus.

If possible, reuse the original lower mounting bolts and J-nuts.
Didnโt realize that after 10 years the front springs on my truck had weakened. After replacing the complete shock and spring assemblies on both sides,my truck was back to its original ride hight and drove just like a new vehicle. Strongly recommend these units.
