You are a carrier of the Apoclypse!

I don't remember how I found out about Thy Art but I'm glad I did. I'm not big on death metal genre, usually the drums or the ridiculous lyrics drive me off, typically it sounds like noise to me and not music. In the beginning I was having trouble getting past the drums, I guess what is called blast beats, the repetitive machine gun drumming is the best way I can describe it. Not a big fan of it, but the more I listened to this album the more I got into it and understood what its for and the reason is because it's all about setup and breakdowns. There are so many pattern and tempo changes they'll have you going in one direction just long enough and then suddenly throw a breakdown or tempo change in on you and they do this frequently. That's what this album excels at and is all about, setups, breakdowns and tempo changes and they are extremely good at it, I can't emphasize it enough. All of the musicians are very talented at what they do, some crazy good chunky riffs and drumming that pulverizes. The vocals are good and there are a couple guest vocalists Joel Birch from Amity Affliction and Nico Bronson from War From a Harlots Mouth that enhance a couple of the tracks. I wish they had thrown a little more of that in. Lyrics are typically the last thing I look for and eventually there are some pretty good lyrics that stand out. I am constantly cranking the volume up in parts cause it's so good and I just can't get it loud enough.I really don't know what to compare this album to as I don't have a lot of death metal experience, but this album almost feels like a death/thrash. It reminded me of Testament's Demonic album except much heavier and chunkier. I hate labeling stuff so I'll just say it's a solid album, there isn't a bad track on it.There is so much good to say about this album I can't squeeze it all into a single review so i'll drop some highlights.Fav. Intro: Track 5 - Immolation 0:00 to 0:29secs guitars riffs are so good on this track and what sounds like a hammer on, love it.Fav. Drums: Track 7 - Dead Sun 2:26 to 3:08 look on tube for lee Stanton for this vid. It's badass, wish he would do more of these.Fav. Lyrics: Track 7 - Dead Sun "You are the carrier of the apocalypse! "Fav. Breakdown: Track 9 - Defective Breed 1:40 to 2:15 you can't turn it up loud enough.I listened to this album so many times on tube I had to add it to my collection. The biggest issue I have with the album is that it's so short coming in at just 36mins. I wish they would drop some instrumental filler tracks in here and there where they just jam and show off some more of their skills. I eagerly await their next release. Best metal album in years for me.I purchased the CD with autorip. The rips were 277kb. The CD comes with lyrics also which is a nice bonus and it was worth every penny at $11.98. I would have paid $20 for this particular album.

    Heavy, awesome

Not a big album reviewer. There is a ton of info online about music and reviews of any/every album. It’s worth pointing out albums that stand above the crowd though. Hate by Thy Art is Murder is fantastic. The album is about a decade old and I like it more every year. It is heavy Heavy Metal. If you once saw Iron Maiden or your kid likes Korn it does not mean you/they will be into this music. Angry is a good word to describe it ( the album is called HATE ).The album was very successful in Australia, the band’s home turf, and sold well elsewhere. It deserves to be in your collection if you like Metal. I’m not gonna label the type of Metal because: A) there are far too many categories of Metal these days and B) anyone can say “ yeah but it’s not really Death per se, more Speed or Grindcore you know”. I don’t know. Nor do I care. All that matters is you like the music. Labeling things can get in the way.I think the 1st and 4th songs are my favorite but I always play the whole CD. Great workout music. Great clean the house music too. Probably wouldn’t listen to it stuck in a traffic jam but we don’t have many of those where I live. It is difficult to describe the music...Maybe if Lamb of God were much heavier and did the Opeth ( I love Opeth ! ) Black Metal throat growl singing more. Sort of. Listen to it if you like Metal. Definitely on my list of 50 best Metal albums of all time. Probably top 25.

    This ain't your Momma's Deathcore!

*by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2014*

I literally have nothing - not a single thing - negative to say about this album. Thy Art Is Murder delivers some of the best deathcore out there. I have this in my top 10 albums of 2013 - a *must own. But TAIM isn't your standard deathcore group. Not only do they offer some of the most vicious breakdowns with heavy down-tuned guitars, they mix in an element of technical death metal the likes of Beneath the Massacre, that easily earn them the crown in the technical deathcore genre. The vocals on this album by CJ McMahon are phenomenal. His deep gutturals and sustained growls are probably the best I've heard in years and easily rival the work of Phil Bozeman (Whitechapel) on New Era of Corruption - which are insanely brutal. As I mentioned earlier, the guitar work is everything from skull crushing breakdowns to ripping technical work. Add to that, perfectly arranged percussion and a flawless production, and this album will take you on a start to finish adrenaline rush that only gets better with each listen. Without a doubt, I love listening to this CD on the way to the gym.Bottom line: whether you're a fan of deathcore in general, technical death or just solidly aggressive metal, I highly recommend buying this. I can't wait for the next release by Thy Art Is Murder and hope we don't have to wait very long. Give the samples a listen - I wager you'll agree.
