HOWEVER, if you're making a bug out bag and you just need enough litter to accommodate the cat for a few days, I would strongly suggest putting it in a gallon-size Ziploc bag. That should be plenty and it'll be easy to place into any kind of duffel or suitcase that you need for bug-out. If you use 2 Ziploc bags you should be able to fit all of it in there that you need for a full week of use. Plus it's much easier to pack that way. Just FYI, it is very very light weight. It won't add much weight at all to any duffel or emergency kit. ALSO, you can buy fold-down dish pans in camping section. I have had many cats & tried many different kinds of litter through the years & am now myself a lifelong customer of cats pride kitty litter, here's why; it's never over priced, never underperforms, It clumps extremely well, there's odor even if I miss a day of scooping out the litter box. I only need to change and clean the box twice a month, and never smell the litter. The box stays in my bedroom, next to my bed I might add! It comes in 10 and 15 lb jugs. One jug lasts my 13 year old fur baby 3 to 4 weeks If changed every 10 to 14 days (using a very large box. I've been using this brand of litter for nearly a year now. Cat's pride kitty litter is my first choice. It's the best choice, it's the only choice in my opinion. I made the mistake of trying a large pail of "tidy cat" because I wanted the pail & the price was too good to ignore. I never thought that it could or would be that bad, after all, "Tidy Cats" is a well known name in kitty litter.actually be terrible? Let me tell you my house smelled of cat pee.
