If not are there places difficult to clean where crud can grow bacteria if you miss it?** A: Yes, it comes completely apart. You use it by twisting the plunger inside the cup along a groove. When the plunger is completely inside the cup, the groove turns at the bottom to line up with a notch where it comes completely apart. I just put the two pieces in the dishwasher and it stays clean. The seams are pretty tight and I haven't had problems with it collecting debris. **Q: Since its plastic has anyone tried putting hot or boiling water in it? Has it cracked at all?** A: The primary material used is plastic. I would NOT use boiling water when needing an accurate liquid measurement. That is when you would use a glass measuring cup.
