is the funnel end small enough to fit into a 1 gallon water or milk jug as found at the local grocer?

No. The stupid thing is exactly the same size as the opening so it doesn't sit inside the opening of the water/milk jug. Here is a funnel I finally found that works: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ES3UE3I?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01

what is the diameter of the funnel bottom?

1 5/16-inch outside diameter and 1 1/8-inch inside diameter.

what is the spout diameter???

The top opening has a diameter of 12 cm (4 3/4 inches). The bottom opening (spout) diameter is 3 cm (1 18 inch).

I reuse jam jars need a funnel that fits 2 inch top

This should work for your needs. The hole at he bottom is only about 1 1/4" wide.
