Excellent for Beginner Modern Calligraphy/Brush Lettering!
I’m a beginner to Modern Calligraphy and have been doing a lot of research on brush pens that are all around great pens, but especially easier for beginners to start off with and these are some I’ve seen recommended over and over. These Pentel Sign Pen Brush (Flexible Point) pens are GREAT pens! Give nice thin upstrokes and distinct thicker downstrokes, the colors are nice and bold and the ink flows well. Another pen I’ve seen recommended frequently are the Tombow Fudenosuke Colors that just came out. I purchased them at the same time as these Pentels and did a little side-by-side comparison swatch today, so I’ll attach that in case you are also looking at the two kinds. If you are at all familiar with the Tombow Fudenosukes, they typically come in a pack of 2 black pens, 1 hard tip and 1 soft tip - these Pentels are similar to the soft tip Fudenosuke. So, soft, but still a “small” brush pen that is a bit easier for beginners to control. Hope my review is helpful to some!

Pentel for the win
Everyone and their sister is doing the brush lettering and bullet journaling thing these days. But the most popular pen set is the Tombow Fudenosuke. They are about ten dollars more than these. It's unfortunate that one product gets taken up by the influencers and pushed as the "must have" pen, but there need to be alternatives and I don't believe any beginner should run out dump money on products especially when you don't know a thing. Lots of learning and some affordable basics should be enough. You do not need to buy a full set of pens to learn lettering. That comes later. That's my opinion and it always will be. But when it comes to the point where one has been practicing and is ready for a set of brush pens, the biggest names in brush lettering agree that the Tombow "Fudes" are not the only small brush pen (there are small and large Tombow Duo Tip--learn on a small!) that stand on top. There are thankfully tons of great videos showing the side by side of these Pentel and Tombow Fudes. And I'm saying with confidence that although they perform nearly the same, I like these better. For me they are the superior. They are jucier and an overall better pen. These things are always in large part preference but you can't go wrong as a beginner. I believe it's fair to say at this point that Pentel has earned a top spot alongside Tombow with many preferring Pentel. The only thing to watch for is that you don't accidentally buy the felt tip since the packages are nearly identical. Make sure you look for Sign BRUSH, very important and look closely to see that the barrels are glittery. Then you know you have the right pen. There's absolutely no reason to pay ten extra dollars for the other set. I say that as a person who started with the two pack of Tombow Fudenosuke black pens in hard and soft nibs just to learn. I also practiced with the large Tombow pen once I got comfortable. I love these Pentel and have some large Tombow for bigger projects being that they are so much larger, but when it comes to brush lettering in colors, I use these. Pentel makes a great brush pen and they surpass Fudes in my opinion for a good chunk less! I am a person who thinks very carefully and researches things thoroughly before choosing, almost to a fault, and I'm happy that I did that and didn't follow the crowd. The black Tombow did the job while I was learning, but this set was the right purchase. Juicier indeed and very comfortable to use. I also use them in my mixed media art. Be a smart consumer and be cautious when getting into something new. Look carefully at all your options and above all else do some learning about the area you want to pursue so you have the info you need to make a good choice and spend wisely.

They make brush calligraphy sooo much easier and more natural!!!
The flexible tips of the markers make for easy and natural calligraphy -like writing! And the fact that they are water based and can blend colors easily is like the icing on the cake! These are my new favorite markers for doing fancy handwriting! Definitely worth the money! Definitely exceeded my expectations. Hope to buy more colors soon!

These are my favorite out of my huge collection of calligraphy pens/markers!
These are great. Out of my large and obscene few hundred dollar calligraphy pen collection, I use these the most. These are my favorite. They are so smooth and easy to write with (and easy to learn with for beginners) and the colors are super vibrant. I ended up buying 12 packs of each individual colors because I use them so much, but this set is great, especially for beginners. The tips hold up pretty well and I like the thickness of what they write. They're finer than my Tombow sets, but they still have a nice depth perception. I have a ton of lyrics and quotes on my instagam in my "calligraphy" highlights and 90% of them were done with these pens if you want a better idea of how they write and how vibrant the colors are. I'm certainly not a pro, I'm just a beginner...but I absolutely love these the best. My Instagram is @TheRinster.

Great Calligraphy Pens!
I had seen people using these for calligraphy and hand lettering, and they seemed to do a good job. So I decided to try them. I find that they are great (especially for beginners) for practicing your thin/thick lines in words! They are smooth, and they don’t get all over me or my paper. The colors in the small pack I bought are very pretty—the pink is bright, as are a few other colors, along with some darker ones and a black and brown one. They are some of my favorites! Highly recommend!

Great for watercolor/mixed media use!
Amazing pens. I noticed that not many people talk about how these are a water soluble ink so they act like watercolor markers. I highly recommend them for mixed media and watercolorists or anyone who just wants to play around with a fun set of colors. The photos posted are of art I did entirely with Pentel Sign Pens and a black Sharpie for the black background shape. They do not blend out totally, similarly to watercolor pensils, and can be used in tandem with watercolor pencils. You will also want to swatch them to get used to how they react to water, and to see how the colors change as they are slightly different after drying. These aren't the cheapest pens, however they are a great quality and last a long time. The colors are consistent and standardised, and it seems like every batch is the same so far, unlike Arteza who has some quality control issues.

Wonderful for lettering
These markers are water soluble, with great tips to create lettering or small works of art. They come in a great package with a stand built in for ease of use. They are also a good value for a full set of Pentel anything. I bought them after buying one black open stock marker and I kept reaching for this marker when creating art, so I was delighted to find this variety of colors in one set.
