Is there grit on both sides?

How flat are these plates? Has anyone taken a dial indicator to them to measure?

We check them with both the granite surface plate-jacks-dial indicator method and the machinist's straight edge-feeler gauge method. I find both methods give the same result. They typically test less than +/- .001 over the FULL length or width of the stone. Given that each diamond particle on a 600 grit stone is roughly .001 in size, that is a pretty tight standard.
