They do sound a bit different than plain strings (not as "brassy"?) But what you get in return is a sound not everyone around is playing. If you want plain string sound play nanowebs. I like the slick feel, they almost feel soft" to my fingers which allows my playing time to at minimum double. These ploywebs last for ever...! I've gone through 3 sets of regular strings and I'm just now replacing the Elixers. Make up your own mind. I think they'll end up with a new customer.
