Review: A Must Have for Every Kitchen! - I bought this for canning since pouring hot liquids out of a pot into a jar, even with a funnel on top of it can get a bit messy and I was tired of burning myself. It would be much easier to scoop the liquid out to fill the jar but none of my soup ladles did the trick. When this came, I was disappointed by the way it looked and felt. To me it actually looked like a cheap plastic scoop although the handle looked okay but it would melt the second I used it in hot liquid. Not only doesn't it melt, I have been using this for my canning and scooping out stew and pumpkin and any other need I came across and this scoop works like a charm. It is my favorite item to use to scoop/ladle since not only is the scoop big, it is designed so it can get down to the bottom of the pot. I have had mine a couple years but this was the first time I used it. I was making jelly. When I went to pour the very first scoop of BOILING jelly I dipped out the scoop portion slipped right off the handle spilling things everywhere. I was introduced to this gem by a homesteading youtuber * The Kneady Homesteader! She has been using this a lot on her canning videos and I finally decided to try it. This does exactly what it is designed to do. You can get almost every smidgen of your jams, jellies, and preserves out of the pot without struggling and having a lot left behind to start setting. The way its formed more oblong makes it be able to scrape the rounded bottoms of our pots to get every bit out. Some will still gel but not as much as with a round ladle. I would recommend this to any canner out there, it hangs on the pot, reduces waste that way and allows it to get the most out of the pot before it starts setting.
