I want to use/keep it at my cabin up north but it's not heated in the winter so water needs to be completely drained.** A: It does not have a drain line, nor can you attach tubing to the outlet. You have to move it to a sink, and tilt it. note, it weighs 25 pounds. Then it has to sit for 30 minutes before you can use it, to allow the refrigerant to "settle". **Q: I hope this does not sound stupid, but where does the water go? Do i take out the basket and pour water on bottom? Someone please explain to me,** A: Fill to just below the "MAX" water mark. This is easier to see the mark if the basket is out. Only use potable water or water suitable for drinking. We use bottled water to avoid residue buildup. **Q: Does this keep the ice frozen?** A: The ice rests in a bucket inside of the unit and so it does keep frozen. Length of time depends on ambient temp. When ice melts the water flows back into reservoir and gets recycled into more ice. I remove some ice and store in freezer as it is more conveniently accessed from there. **Q: How do you set the timer to only make ice when im away from the house, say, 9:00 - 5:00?** A: My unit does not have a timer. I just make sure to plug it in for 30 min prior then push the start button and let it go. It makes 8 cubes every 8 min and I scoop them out immediately or let them build up for an hour or more. I do bag them to put in the freezer.
