It doesn't look like much in pictures but it's actually really adorable in person with delightful attention to detail. I love the wood grain on the floor and the trunk texture on the inside walls, as well as the molded vines and leaves around the windows on the inside. The design detail on the slide/ climbing rope ladder thingie is especially impressive. The little baby sized hammock that suspends from the top of the tree (inside) is just darling. It's also cleverly designed to pop into place and be hard to remove unlike those tippy hammocks in the Lakeside Lodge cabin that used to be easily knocked down every 2 seconds. There is even a little groove in the branch to hold the rope for the swing. My swing came pre-threaded with the rope which I mention because some other Calico Critters toys sometimes have the string separate for you to try figure out how to string. It is easy and fun to assemble: the green leaf canopy slides easily onto the trunk and the branch and hammock pop easily into place, which is added play value as it's a nice sense of achievement for a kid to put it together themselves. It includes a little sticker rug/mat for the upstairs floor so that the little toddler squirrel can take a nap, just like kids in preschool. Because it includes one of the coveted, articulated limb, standing babies I think it's great value for money.
