Review: I'm actually starting to bake thanks to this thing! - My wife and I just recently remodeled our kitchen and I got this mixer to be sort of a cherry on top. My wife loves to cook and the idea was that this would help make our new kitchen even better and she would use it to start doing more baking. I was right in all counts but it was me, not my wife that suddenly started baking. I'm now baking a couple of things a week. That should be your first clue on how good this mixer is. I've never really baked before until we got this machine but the mixer makes baking so much easier that I've started enjoying it. I've made bread, cookies, muffins, cupcakes, cake and even homemade frosting so far with this. This machine literally takes the least fun thing in baking (the hand mixing) and makes it the easiest and simplest. Here's the good. The machine is powerful and easy to use. I have found it plenty powerful for any baking job I've thrown at it. Even sourdough bread dough it had no trouble mixing. It's very solidly made. You won't be breaking this thing very easy. It's surprisingly quiet. I mean it's a mixer so it does make noise but I was expecting a lot noisier machine than it is. It's quiet enough that you can have a normal conversation with someone standing next to it. It's 4.5 quart bowl is plenty big for most household baking projects. Lastly the bowl and mixing attachments are super easy to clean in either the dishwasher or even by hand. The bad. The bowl should have a handle on it. It's stupid that it doesn't have one. The next step up mixer is the Artisan and it's 5 quart bowl has a handle. Kitchenaid sells extra bowls for this mixer and they have handles. So there is no reason for this mixer's bowl not to have one. It's lack of a handle on the bowl almost made me give this mixer 4 stars instead of 5. Lastly this mixer needs a lot of vertical space. If the location you want to use this at in your kitchen has cabinets hanging over it you might have a problem. The mixer is 14" tall but that's when the head of the mixer is in the mixing position. When the mixing head is tilted back the mixer is almost 18" tall. Keep that in mind. You might want/need to go with the more expensive lifting bowl mixers if you don't have enough vertical space for the mixer. In the end this is a high quality product. If you're looking for a mixer to use every week or so on baking projects and want something that's going to be high quality this is your choice. It's really made baking a lot more fun for my wife and I. I do recommend however you pick up an extra bowl as it's always good to have a second bowl and having a handle on your bowl makes the bowl easier to handle.
Review: Another check off the bucket list! - This is a "Bucket List" purchase and so worth the price. When I was twelve years old my aunt (who baked wedding cakes) took me under her wing and taught me the ins and outs of good baking. I have wanted a KitchenAid mixer ever since and this was a Christmas gift to myself. I have owned several mixers in my life and all have been adequate to the task, but the versatility and reliability of the KitchenAid is beyond compare. The only thing I haven't done so far is make bread dough but that is coming. The other recommending feature is that, simply put, this mixer is a work of art; being the son of a machinist nothing is more gratifying than the perfect combination of function and beauty and this mixer is all of that. I read all of the negative reviews before I made this purchase and I made the purchase with eyes-wide-open. I am sympathetic with those folks who had a less than satisfactory experience, but for me this was a slam dunk.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this mixer work in Singapore?**
A: You would need a powerful voltage transformer as in with any other electronics you would use from the US. With Singapore (East) and US (west, Voltage from outlets in the wall are different. It's 110 and 220 V. Forget which is which, but you will need a transformer.
And to others who are being sarcastic and nasty; shame on U! Can't say you are grown ups if you act like middle school kids.

**Q: How does this do with bread dough?**
A: I have a older version of the mixer (I believe - looks the same, my model # is K45SS, is about 20 years old, and it is 250 Watts). It will handle almost anything. The only thing it has sort of labored over is REALLY THICK granola that I make with grains, nuts, seeds, and almond butter as the only liquid. It will stand up and salute (the granola mixture, I mean, prior to baking)! I fill up the Kitchen Aid stainless steel bowl till almost overflowing and the mixer goes to town (well, slowly). I make my bread in a bread machine, but the mixer would have no trouble with any dough I've ever handled. Hope this is hlepful. And I wish I could spell. I mean helpful.

**Q: will this mixer work in Greece (220V)?**
A: Any mixer that is american 120v will work in Europe. Most military have this problem. You need a transformer 220 volts to 110 volts. You must make sure it will take the watts. Most kitchenaid mixers are 350 watt or less. So a good 600 watt transformer will work no problem. Do not but those little adapters they will burn up. A 600 watt transformer weighs about 15 to 18 pounds. They have heavy copper windings inside. They will have a 220/240 plug on one side of the box and American outlet with an on/off switch and sometimes a fuse or circuit breaker. I ran these transformers for years in Naples Italy.

**Q: what size motor**
A: Mine has a 275 Watt motor. I have the attachments for slicing, shredding and meat grinding ect . They all work well for me in my kitchen.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Just right for a family of four. Best mixer ever!
*by H***B on February 9, 2019*

I got this for Christmas from my mother in-law. It is fantastic. I have not made bread yet, but I will be concerning that soon. It washes well and was easy to use. I had a smaller mixer that was on a stand, but not a kitchen ad. Just to see if I would use something like this often. I didn’t want to just spend this kind of money on something I never used. I used the smaller one all the time. So, I discussed get one of these with my hubby. It is a lot of money. He said let’s see what you get for Christmas. My mother in-law has asked what to get me for Christmas. He already talked to my mother in-law about getting one for me. I love it! I have had it less then two months and I use it at lest twice a week. My hubby is now going on a diet...lol.
