They do that to allow for the resistance of the factory speaker wires. I have them in my doors and I have 5 1/4 inch ones in my dash with a Rockford punch running at 118 watts rms and they work great. I did upgrade to the Kappa 6x9 in the back of the van. I’m thinking of adding the 6x9 Reference speakers back in boxes. I also run another Punch and a 10” Rockford sub . My head unit is a pioneer 9” floating screen high end unit.
