Just be careful to properly cover the wire´s end, but the pump is fully submersible. **Q: Can I program it to do the opposite - when there is water, the pump turns on and takes the water out, and turns off when it's dry - like a sump pump?** A: This kit is just the external parts for the project; not the “brains.” So, nothing here can be programmed. But, the arduino you’re attaching them to can be programmed virtually any way you want.
