Raspberry Pi User Guide Review: I enjoy this book - I am so grateful for this book. I bought it for the same reason that I buy most of my books: reading pleasure. I got the Pi with the intent of doing practical and useful things with it but also as a fun toy, a new hobby, something to learn with. And this book completes my fun starter kit, satisfying both the practical needs and the fun/learning part. It is well written with excellent intro material, including the history and philosophy behind the Pi. I have been using Linux for about 6 years now and have a technical background but even so, the intro stuff was nice to read. It also moves into more advanced topics, so it is much more useful than "Intro" or "Beginner" guides that focus just on getting you started. I am not finished with the book yet but I intend to read it cover-to-cover. It is that sort of book, rather than just a reference. I also got the more detailed Exploring book by Derek Molloy which is also excellent, and I recommend both these books the most (I have looked at others). However, I am less likely to read Derek Molloy's book entirely since it is a much more in-depth book and more like a text book (because that is one of the ways in which it is used). Also, some reviewers have complained about the figures in this book but I have the Kindle version and the figures are great. On a tablet they are in color and can be zoomed. So, I have no complaints and strongly recommend this as a first Pi book.
