It has a setup standard which is called PPPoE. All Centurylink DSL modems offer PPPoE input. A lot of routers offer PPPoE to people who wish to use only a router as their modem which is a bad idea. Modem/router combinations are more effective for this. I am a CenturyLink technician and can confirm this is a modem/router (gateway) combo. It works for VDSL/ADSL single pair and pair bonded (2 pairs) service. It also is capable of gigabit connection speeds when hard-wired from the modem to the computer ethernet port. Wireless speeds are not guaranteed. Wifi will not provide gigabit throughput capability. When fiber is ran, they run the cat5/6 from the ethernet port on the Optical Network Terminal to the WAN port on these modems. They are technicolor, which means they support anywhere from 100mbps+ to Gigabit service. They will work for gig service and fiber solutions. **Q: How is this different/better than the C1100Z?** A: I think the main difference is that the C3000Z's wireless is 5G compatible. **Q: Will this unit work with our centurylink adsl service?** A: According to their website, it is compatible with ADSL. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great quality. Very happy with the product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Centurylink ZyXEL C3000Z DSL Modem/Router works wonderfully with Centurylink *by on Reviewed in the United States 10 March 2018* The Centurylink ZyXEL C3000Z DSL modem/router works wonderfully with Centurylink. Super easy to set up. It has all the features I need and more. My only gripe is that reserving IP/MAC addresses takes longer than usual for DSL modems.2018-10-05 UPDATE: Everything was working fine until today, then I noticed really outlandish ping numbers (up to 2 full seconds for a ping). I called CenturyLink and went through all all the troubleshooting that entails with the end result resetting the C3000Z back to factory defaults. The tech had me go to connect.centrylink.com to finish setting up the mode/router. This was new, I never had to do that before. After doing the online setup, the router was ready to use and the ping times were excellent.But I had a LAN network that was 192.168.123, not the default 192.168.0. As soon as I made the address change, the ping times went back up to 900 ms. I went back to factory defaults and did the connect.centrylink.com setup again. Each time the C3000Z worked great until I changed something in the device. This was never the case before. CenturyLink, it appears, has decided all the CenturyLink branded modem/routers belong to them and they can program them however they wish and the user can't do anything without risking terrible internet speeds.MY ADVICE TO ALL CENTURYLINK CUSTOMERS: Do not buy or use any CenturyLink branded modem/routers. Maybe this is a result of the net neutrality law being abolished by the Trump Administration? ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Frustration *by on Reviewed in the United States 25 November 2023* Got this product via USPS yesterday. Installed today. No instructions! At least the unit looked new. Tried "Plug & Play". Not with Centurylink! Used an old modem to "Surf" for info. A lot of answers on-line, but not if you're Tech-Challenged. If you don't have a "Smart Phone" with internet you're in trouble! FINALLY found a site that showed how to set up from a computer. Seeing as how I already had internet I was able to input the IP Address on-line and get through some "Boxes" to get the darn thing to work! Don't know why it takes almost two minutes to get the DSL Modem to "Boot Up". My old MOTOROLA modem "Booted Up" in less than a minute. (I always shut off my modem when not in use) Had the same trouble getting the "Wireless" feature to see my laptop. My old C1000A lasted nine years.
