After using these retractable highlighters, I’ll never go back to the standard removable cap version. These are much more convenient. They’re thicker than standard highlighters, about twice as thick as a pencil, but I think that allows them to hold more ink. They seem to last a long time. The ink will only smear if it is used on wet writing. Once it swears, it doesn’t take long to correct itself. It is more of a flourescent yellow, and it dries quickly and retains its brightness. This allows for greater contrast between the ink and the text, making it easier to read. I have tried other colors, and yellow is still the only color that isn’t too dark. I would like to use other colors for successive readings of a text, but for now I’ve given up on that, and exclusively use yellow. Because it is retractable, all it takes is a quick click to keep the nib from drying out. The click is rather loud, about twice as loud as a Pilot G2, so they may not the best for use in a library, but they’re fine for use in a coffee shop. With that in mind, while there is still room for improvement, the one-handed action, not having to replace the cap after each use, and the price, makes these the best highlighters on the market.

I love these highlighters – they're sharpies, which is a very good brand. I love that they are retractable, they are easy to use and I feel that they last a good long time even with them being retractable. I have used them for years. They are my favorite.!!

THE BEST highlighters made. Once you have used the "click" version which works like a classic ball point pen, you won't want to use the old-fashioned version where you remove the cap manually. While old-fashioned version is good for extensive, longer use of the highlighter, the click type is more convenient for quick jobs. It's harder to find a box of single color click types. You can more easily find multi color packages of 3-6, but I don't use those on a regular basis. Yellow will NOT show up on b/w copies, but PINK will.

These are very handy because you don't have to fiddle around with putting a cap back on/taking it off each time. If you do a lot of highlighting but intermittently, these are a handy option!
