Superb dashcam, worth every penny.
I have fitted a few dashcams to family cars over the years using either fuse taps or convenient plug ins. Previously I have stayed with the value brand Apeman, which have been reliable and functional, but we bought a new car and I though I would fit branded kit. This little camera is suprb, it took my less than 10 minutes to fit and install, set up the wifi and complete the settings. It has wifi enabled digital vault back up in addiion to the SD card slot and has voice control. Small enough to hide behind the rear view mirror, you don't even see it in your line of vision. So far has worked for two years without issue. It is there in backgound as a quiet all seeing guardian.

Great little camera.
It was easy to install. Nice little mount easy to hide behind rear view mirror. It performed as expected. Image quality is good. I found downloading videos of any incidents very quick and easy with the app. It connects to my home WiFi when I get home and uploads any videos to the app so I can review and download Great camera for the money.

Nice and small but buggy software
I bought this along with a SanDisk 128GB High Endurance microSDXC card, and had it fitted professionally by an installer who hid all the cables and routed the power cable to the hidden cigarette lighter in the centre console of my car. It looks good, and the camera sits behind the rearview mirror out of view of the driver. I had a few issues to note: - the app recommended a firmware update. This resulted in the dashcam being stuck in a bootloop with a flashing green LED. Searching online, I found others have had this problem and had to return their dashcams. I thought it was bricked. Luckily for me, after disconnecting the power and waiting for a bit, the problem resolved itself. I recommend testing the camera and making sure you are happy with it before installing it in the car. - the app frequently does not connect to the camera on the first attempt. Second attempt is usually ok. - the camera appears to require a higher power USB connection. Be aware of this! I initially plugged it in to the internal USB socket of my car (which is connected to the car audio for a flash drive with music files). This resulted in an unreliable dashcam, that would appear to work, but be glitchy - spontaneously rebooting, bluetooth/wifi not visible or connecting, etc. Switching to the supplied Garmin cigarette lighter PSU solved these problems. - the app always says there are no saved videos when you try to browse them. This is very frustrating. It appears to take several minutes before the app receives the metadata and thumbnails from the dashcam and shows them on the screen, and this requires exiting and starting the browse again. It's more of an issue with larger SD cards, as the dashcam won't delete video until the card is full, so you could have months of old videos on there. - the sliders for video cropping go right to the edge of the screen, which means you can't crop a video near the start or end without disabling Android gesture navigation. Despite these problems, I'm happy with the purchase, mainly because the camera does the job, and I never use the app unless there's an actual incident, which is fortunately rare.

Neat, compact and easy to install
Took me 20 minutes to install using the additional Garmin constant power cable, which plugged straight into the OBD-II port underneath the drivers side. I hid the cable in the trims and headlining, just needed the handle of a teaspoon to gain access. I also bought a 512GB Ultra micro SDXC card, which was easily formatted following the instructions and gives me 3 days of recording before being overwritten. The footage is clear, especially when exported to my PC. The voice commands are great and everything is linked via the Garmin Drive app, which I also use for my sat nav. Highly recommended for car electrical novices like myself.

It simply works
I have has a number of dash cams over the years. These Garmin ones have been the best by far. They are very simple to install and use. The voice activation is welcome and mostly works. Only had to sue these twice in anger so to speak. Once on my daughter’s car where she was rear ended at a junction. Okay the camera faces forward but it clearly showed that she was stationary when the impact came and was instrumental in ensuring a 100% no fault insurance claim as the perpetrator could not claim she had stopped suddenly or that she had reversed into him. The other occasion was as a witness to an incident in front of me. I was able to send the footage to the innocent party’s place of work and, according to the driver, able to safeguard his job there. In summary, great quality and clear footage, easy to install, easy to use.

No No No!!
First off, I had my doubts about this anyway because of the other bad reviews but I really wanted a tiny dashcam to replace my other for our new car.. well, it’s a wheelchair accessible van actually and I wanted something small because there’s not a lot of room on our new van windscreen for a dashcam without it obscuring view of the road. It can’t even go behind the rear view mirror because of the mechanics of the heated windshield taking up so much space. SO THIS was perfect!!!! Or at least so I hoped. Firstly the positives; This is small and a cute little thing that can discreetly tuck away. That’s all. No other positives. Now the negatives; The quality is bad. I mean really bad. Yesterday was cloudy and you could not see the reg of the car in front clearly at all. Today was clear sky and although you could see the car reg clearly when the sun was as behind, I had no chance if the sun was shining straight into the lens. Obviously. I’m a photographer, I know how these things work. BUT accidents don’t always happen on sunny days when the sun just happens to not be shining into the lens! So this for me was a good reason to return. Secondly this is NOT HD. I was trying to watch this back on my Mac and it was awful. In an accident you’d have to jump out and take photos on your mobile phone. Honestly, I’m not some kind of tech numpty… I know my stuff, I’m a tech and gadget nerd/expert and I’m telling you this is utter rubbish. Garmin have clearly not tested this product enough. Next, the reflection of your dashboard in the glass is way too much. A polarisation filter is a must for this or there’s way too much glare! I had one handy. Garmin charge a lot for theirs. It solved the glare but wasn’t the right size for this camera so was unusable. Too many reflections add haze to the image which will explain the blurry images. Next, you can’t just plug this into your computer. If you’re a Mac user then it won’t recognise the dashcam and you’ll have to take the sd card out instead and put it into a card reader (not included!). Luckily as a photographer I have a few handy! If you’re a pc user maybe it’ll work. Formatting this is a nightmare. You hold the mic button for 8 seconds and it does the job. It’s fiddly. The app is awful. The user interface is clunky and very poorly designed. Buttons all over the place and you don’t even know they’re buttons as they appear as words instead of obvious buttons. Sound quality is superb BUT there’s all sorts of digital blips and distortion that interrupt this otherwise crystal clear audio. Also… it does not stick on the window very well at all. It keeps falling off. You can’t leave this in the car every night or it’ll get stolen or will break due to over heating of the sun is on it all day. So you must be able to remove it but this isn’t possible at all without the poorly stuck on bracket coming off. It’s not even a sucker…. It’s a sticker!!! Transferring files and even viewing files via Wi-Fi is slow as hell. There’s no GPS so it doesn’t tell you your speed or position. If you could put this upside down on your dash say in front of the steering wheel that would be ok but you cannot flip it and it MUST ONLY be stuck in an upwards position on the windscreen. AND FINALLY there is no way of adjusting the brightness or exposure compensation in the app. So the image will be poorly exposed on dull days which there’s a lot of up north!!!! So, for all these reasons it’s getting returned as it is NOT fit for purpose.

Small, compact, and user friendly
I have been using this product for a while now and have had absolutely no issues so far. The camera is very small, so it easy to hide behind your rear view mirror and forget that it's even there. They provide two wires of different lengths, I opted for the longer one which I hid around the trim of my car. This was a bit fiddly to do but I imagine you have to do this for all dashcam products. Once set up though, the wire is well concealed. Being able to access your videos from a mobile phone app is great, all you do is connect to the dashcam via the app and all your journeys and saved clips are there. You can download them straight to your phone wirelessly. The app does feel a bit clunky to use at times, but it gets the job done which is all that matters. You can save clips by clicking a button on the dashcam, or using voice commands. The voice commands are very responsive and work well - I prefer to use these for hands-free clip saving. If you get in an incident and forget to save a clip - don't worry as all the footage from the journey can still be accessed from the app. The videos are good quality (video and audio) and for me the timestamps on them have been accurate whenever I have saved clips. The price is reaaonable (I paid £120 in total as I needed a microSD card) and I would say it's worth the money. Overall, I'd recommend.

An excellent dash cam
Easy to set up and get going. Easy to link to your phone. Works well. Only used for one day so far, but very happy with the 57 Dash Cam. Love the magnetic connection to the small metal plate that is stuck to your screen. Take your time deciding where is the best place to put the camera. You need to buy a memory card as the camera does not come with one. I like the voice control and the extra features of this model, such as the proximity warning.

Extremely complicated and impractical
Good: video quality and stays stuck to your windshield even on the hottest days Bad: Doesn’t start automatically, need to connect manually via app every time and can take multiple tries Connection breaks in between without notice meaning you may not have any videos if you had an accident Without a Vault account, you cannot check the videos without connecting to the camera or plugging in the microSD card to your laptop If you forget to save the videos manually at the end of each journey then good luck finding it again In conclusion - don’t buy, not recommended. I bought because I assumed a Garmin product would be of good value
