SpeeCo Two Way Lockable Gate Latch for Metal Tube Gates

This has held up VERY well for us! It's important that your gate is level, close to the post, and that you readjust the gate every so often as it sags. This has been one of the favorite upgrades at our barn since we can now open this gate one-handed. Very easy to install, open, and takes a lot of abuse without damage. Will definitely buy again!

I love the SpeeCo latches. I have dairy goats and they will try and squeeze out while you are bringing hay through the gate. Its easy to use one hand to get in and out with these latches. They are also escape artists. My herd queen LaMancha can pick any latch including this one. I usually put a carabiner on the bottom but this particular latch doesnt have the lock assembly. My bad. I just used it in a different area where I didnt need a lock/carabiner. We have pastures and gates everywhere on our farm and we are always adding on, so I can always find a new use for a SpeeCo latech!!

This product was extremely useful and filled my latch needs perfectly. I had a gate with very limited room for a latch, and this compact design looked like it would work well. I saw that it was only pictured being used on wooden fence posts, but thought I could make it work on my round metal fence post. While I did have to bore holes into the post, as the screws would not be able to tap it themselves, I was able to install it just fine. It has been on for several months hand has maintained a high level of sturdiness. I would recommend to anyone looking for a latch with minimum space to fit it.

These lockable latches are quick & easy to install. When combined with thru-bolt gate hinges instead of the screw type, they make a latch assembly that is easy to maintain alignment over time. While I'm not a fan of padlocks on most ranch gates, the lock feature on this latch makes it easy to attach a spring clip to the standard gate chain & through the latch lock making a secure gate control that takes seconds to operate & not get lost when disconnected. This setup has shown to be very effective defeating bored horses (and creative mules!) from picking the latch. While not the right latch for every gate location, it's becoming my standard for most locations.

It looks good, functions well, and is well built. I like being able to open the gate both ways.

Well constructed gate latch. I’ve installed these units on two one-way gates and they work as expected. Would buy again.
