Lonely Planet Mexico (Travel Guide)

I used it on a 10-day trip and it covered everything I needed. Flew into Mexico City and did buses as far as Guanajuato, Oaxaca, and Coatzacoalos.

I love Lonely Planet Guides, and our family doesn't exactly like to do the most typical vacations. When we visited the Grand Canyon a few years back, we decided we would see the Seven Natural Wonders of the World ...all of them. Yes, the book was great for Puerto Vallarta, and we found a villa in a great converted mansion with lots of room for our stay. The real help, however, was our visit to the natural wonder: Paracutin, a volcano in the Central Western Highlands. This was not a highly-trafficked tourist destination, and Lonely Planet had all the best recommendations on how to get there (safely), where to stay, and restaurants. Considering our adventurous vacations, I wouldn't consider anything else but these guides for the true flavor of the destination. Susan

Most of the information in the book is accurate. I did find, however, that the writers stated that a mural in the Municipal Palace in Cordoba was painted by Diego Rivera and it is not one of his works. It is a very beautiful mural by another artist.

A lot of guide books just tell you how beautiful a country is and how wonderful the people are and review only the high end hotels and restaurants. They pretty much leave you unprepared for the reality you find upon arriving in the country. Lonely Planet guidebooks tell you about all those wonderful things too but, they also warn you about the ugly side that all countries have and give advise on how to deal with it. They offer great reviews on a wide range of hotels and restaurants from the bare bones budget traveller to the well heeled one. This Mexico guidebook seems written in the same mold as ones we've used for past trips and, while we haven't gone on our Mexico trip yet, we have every confidence that this Lonely Planet Mexico travel guide will be as invaluable as all the other Lonely Planet guides we have used for our past travels.

Came as described. Very insightful and well written, great for short or long vacations.

Such a great book. My gf and I love lonely planet books when we head out of the country, especially to places where wifi and cell service aren't readily available.

Good information, but I would like to see more. Since I got the book I have been able to find a lot more information on line which I would like to see included in book form. It's definitely a good starting point, and it gave me the desire to do further investigation.

Me encanto el libro y es muy recomendable, lo mejor de esta editorial son los consejos y los tips de cada uno de los lugares, en esta edición no esperes ver fotos, son muy pocas las que trae, pero lo compensa con las recomendaciones

So helpful for our backpacking trip. Sometimes you can find a better price for accommodations, though, so make sure to look! Also be aware that trip advisor can be helpful in pointing you in the right direction for amazing places to eat. One of the spots we ate at in Playa Del Carmen was an Argentinian restaurant that was amazing - showed the owner that we had found him through the lonely planet book, and he was amazed and delighted! 😄

This was my bible during a 4-month trip to Mexico. The internet is great and all, but having a real book I can flip through, get inspiration, plan trips, then also find restaurant and attraction info on the ground is ideal. I always keep my Lonely Planet guides as souvenirs from my trip by sticking post-its on the pages of all of the places I travel to with notes of who I met and what I did.

Nice book with lots of updated information and hints. The delivery was on time as it was indicated. I would recommend it to those traveling to Mexico
