Ainsi la personne qui se saisit de la clé devra dérouler le filin d'acier asujetti à la clé pour ouvrir la serrure protégée. Cela permet d'éviter d'égarer la clé par négligence ou maladresse, ou de dissuader les personnes de l'emporter. Malgré les dimensions réduites, ça n'a rien d'un gadget. La clé se noue au filin grace à une mini vis hexagonale dont la clé est fournie. Le filin en acier est robuste, et extensible jusqu'à 1m.
