Bruce Lee Jeet Kune Do is the iconic book presenting the martial art created by Bruce Lee as explained in the master's own words. In 1970, Bruce Lee suffered a back injury that confined him to bed. Rather than allowing this to slow his growth as a martial artist, he read feverishly on Eastern philosophy and Western psychology and self help books, constructing his own views on the totality of combat and life. It was during this time that Lee wrote 7 volumes containing his thoughts, ideas, opinions, and research into the art of unarmed combat, and how it applies to the everyday life. Some of this material was posthumously published in 1975, but much more existed. This landmark book serves as a more complete presentation of Bruce Lee's notes on his art of Jeet Kune Do. The development of his unique martial art form, its principles, core techniques, and lesson plans are presented here in Lee's own words. It also features Lee's illustrative sketches and his remarkable treatise on the nature of combat, success through martial arts, and the importance of a positive mental attitude in training. In addition, there are a series of "Questions Every Martial Artist Must Ask Himself," that Lee posed to himself and intended to explore as part of his own development, but never lived to complete. Jeet Kune Do: A Comprehensive Guide to Bruce Lee's Martial Way is a book every Bruce Lee fan must have. If you are a fan of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, this book is a must read.
As someone who is now well into their senior years my passion for numerous martial arts (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Boxing, Wrestling. Krav Maga, Combatives and many others) has spanned 7 plus decades. One of the most iconic and well-known martial artists is Bruce Lee. Over the years I have read just about every book and article about him and his Jeet Judo Do methods. This is why when I saw this 400-page soft cover book (Jeet Kune Do: Bruce Lee’s commentaries on the martial way, edited by John Little) I immediately purchased it. First off, this treatise is not an easy read because Bruce Lee goes into great detail on his views and theories on fighting and combat. The simple truth is, even though I clearly understood most of the material, without an instructor who teaches Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do most people will have a hard time grasping the numerous techniques and his personal fighting philosophy in this fantastic book. Bruce comments on a wide variety of topics related to the martial arts and his personal philosophy of combat principles. I found this book to be fascinating, informative and educational. If you are a fan of Bruce Lee, the martial arts and Jeet Kune Do, this is a must book for your personal combatives library. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph H. Truncale (Author: Tactical Principles of the most effective Combative Systems).
