I purchased this so my cats would have access to their food and litter boxes but at the same time keep the dogs from being able to get to the cat food. This door was just the right size, was extremely easy to install in our basement door and has worked perfectly. My large 15lbs cat had no trouble fitting through the door, figuring out how it works immediately. My dogs are all 30-50lbs so they can not fit through it to gobble cat food. The locking mechanism has been a huge help to keep the cats safely closed up and not have to worry about any escaping during home renovations with workers in and out of the house. The swinging door can be a bit loud at times at times but usually that's only when the cats each sit on either side of the door and make a game out of batting / smacking it back and forth with their paws. Overall the door has held up very well in the 5 plus years it's been installed. At times the locking mechanisms can be a bit hard to slide and lock down but I don't use them often. The clear plastic door has some scratching and is not quite as clear anymore which is to be expected but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another in the future if needed. It was a great price and solved my problem of the dogs getting into the cat food.

Very easy to install, works great. My cat gave me the side eye but i insisted and she uses it. She is a BRAT so if she can do it yours can also.

Great start, but the locks are inconvenient and raccoons can overcome them. Suggestions for fix below. But let me start by offering how to teach your cats to use a cat flap. We have two cats which were very used to us opening the door for them and leaving it open, letting in tons of flies. So we installed a cat flap and not surprisingly they couldn't figure it out easily. Here's how I taught them in stages. 1. Remove the small magnet in the flap. This is done by drilling a small hole or two in the back side of the flap pocket that holds the magnet. Use something like a paperclip to push the magnet out. Set the magnet aside for future use. 2. Use tape to hold the flap all the way open until they are quite used to the idea that this is the way to go in and out. See picture. In our case we left it taped open in this position during the day for about a week. 3. Once they are used to the concept, tape the door about halfway open, so they feel the door on their backs as they go through. In our case it probably took 2 weeks of this for them to get comfortable going in and out past the flap. 4. Next tape the flap open just barely so they can smell the outdoors but they now have to push the door out of the way. Another two weeks maybe. 5. Now remove the tape entirely and they will discover they can still push through easily because the magnet is not in place. Currently this is where my cats are in the process. One cat has figured it out and could probably have the magnet back in, but our other cat is still very cautious about having to use his nose and head to push through. The magnet will eventually go back in once he's more comfortable with the freely moving flap. 6. Finally, I think it's important that there is a visual clue for the cats that the flap is unlocked and that they can go in and out. Without this they will try even when the flap is locked and they'll become confused and may stop trying all together. The solution could be as simple as a heavy book or box blocking their view out the clear plastic when the flap is locked. However there is one other problem that suggests a more robust solution. 7. At night and when we are away, we want the flap locked so the cats remain indoors. However we had a situation where a raccoon wanted to get into our house so badly that it managed to overcome the small plastic lock. Hilarity at 2:00 a.m. ensued. This suggested a single solution to the visual clue for the cats, locking the door more robustly and conveniently, with an added benefit of being more weatherproof. The little plastic locks are clever but not robust enough to keep out raccoons and they're annoying to set properly all the time. 8. My solution to these multiple problems was to construct a metal gate on the indoor side that could be raised and lowered. See pictures of this solution open and closed. It involves a piece of 16 gauge (1/16" or anything heavy enough to do the job) metal that slides up and down in wooden tracks on either side of the flap and has a piece of parachute cord that allows you to raise and lower it at will. One of these cat flap manufacturers will eventually design something like this into their system. In the meantime some basic DIY skills in woodworking and metalwork will accomplish the task.

This was a great pet door for our cat, to run to the basement to get to her litter box. Easy to install and use. You can lock it, if you don’t want your pet to come upstairs if someone is allergic to your pet or other reasons. Yes we definitely recommend this for your home.

Great for the cat the cat loves it but the most important part is you get a little mini level so you hang a plum otherwise the door doesn’t open and close properly. I put it on the first time without a level and I had to take it off, which was a son of a gun cause I had to drill out the stainless steel screws that are very soft when I once I ran in. I tried to take them out to Philip would not take them out. I tried everything. The bottom line is I had to use the drill to drill them out and then get the door off again and start all over again.

*ANOTHER UODATE* I had to order a new one to replace this one. Had a feral cat show up and our cats don’t like him and they come flying out the door and finally broke the door so I’m replacing it. Note the door has heavy magnets on it to help keep the door shut against the wind. If this door fails I’ll be looking for a more substantial door. *UPDATE AGAIN* Cats went to doing bathroom duties in the garage so my wife checked there to discover it wouldn’t open. I investigated and discovered the weather seal had come loose so I guess I’m going to have to glue it back up where it belongs as it had wedged their door so it wouldn’t move in or out. They love that door so I have to get it fixed. *UPDATE* I determined the door doesn’t have enough weight to bring it back closed and we had some powerful thin magnets so I put one on each side so as not to interfere with our cats coming in or getting out. They love their door and freedom. It works good in calm weather but when it’s cold outside and the wind is blowing the door will not stay closed and very soon the garage is getting cold. I think I’m going to have to build a wind break outside the walk door which kind of defeats the purpose of a cat door. It needs a spring to make it return back to center. The magnet just isn’t strong enough to hold it.

For the price, it’s great, it’s definitely a plastic that’s somewhat sturdy, but once it’s in the door, it feels very secure. My biggest concern was installation and I gotta say it wasn’t too bad. I used a jigsaw from Harbor Freight and did they cut myself after removing the door, a fifth grader probably could’ve done as well as as I did with the lining, but you can’t even tell once the thing is in, it just has to be at the appropriate size. So far so good! Looks really solid, my German Shepherd can’t fit through it, but it’s definitely big enough for both of my cats, the male and female are both around 10 pounds

Simple to install. I believe It would have been easier to install is if you use a router instead of a jigsaw. The blade bends on the jigsaw requiring more time to make amends.

I needed to replace my old cat flap as the one I had broke when I accidentally banged into it with my lawn mower. I bought it in a local pet store a few years ago, but they don't sell that exact cat flat anymore. This was the only cat flap I could fine with the exact measurements as my old one. Fits perfectly and I like the extra dials that allows you to change it to open one way and close the other, have it open both ways or to have it closed completely. Also, this cat flap has a clearer door/flap compared to my old one which was frosted/opaque flap that my cats couldn't see out of. Now they love to just sit by the cat flap and nosy out at the garden.

Je l’ai installée sur une porte PVC sans problème, le gabarit fourni aide beaucoup. Rapport qualité-prix imbattable, surtout pour ce format large qui convient même à un chat costaud.
