You can't use a flimsy notebook,etc for the projection to work with decent accuracy, because it will move very slightly throwing something off. A flat table or large flat book will work fine with it. The mouse feature works okay (by hitting fn then the special arrow button), but it won't work on a smartphone (only the keyboard ). If you're using your phone with Virtual reality goggles then you can send your PC display to your smartphone/iphone using the splashtop remote app (one of the spashtop apps are free) and have your laser keyboard linked to your PC (if it has bluetooth). This works but not well and has lag. There's hardly any lag using it with the computer/phone directly though. I can't give this ite 4 or 5 stars because my wireless keyboard works better than this laser keyboard. I could bump the score up to just under 4 stars if that was an option (3.75) The laser keyboard can keep up pretty well with typing, but I doubt you're gonna be typing papers on it or at least it'll take a little longer (Maybe a 2 page paper, but I'd use a regular keyboard for anything more). It's still ok, but lightning fast typing is not going to happen with this.
