## Description

2016 release, the 10th and final studio album from the pop punk band. After nearly 20 years as a band, Yellowcard is returning to Hopeless Records for their final full length album. The band self-produced the effort. Much of the process was done by the band themselves in Ryan Key's crowd-funded The Lone Tree Recordings studio. The album art photo was taken by guitarist Ryan Mendez. This self-titled album includes the singles "Rest in Peace" and "The Hurt Is Gone". Yellowcard formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1997 and have been based in Los Angeles since 2000. The group's music is distinctive within the band's genre because it features the prominent use of a violin.

    Fine, but...That's It?

*by S***N on Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2016*

Not exactly the Grand Finale one would hope for...but not a total disappointment, either.Yellowcard emerged as one of my favorite fired-up bands with "Ocean Avenue" in 2003. Thirteen years later, this self-titled album is apparently their last. Along the way, I got (and continue to get) all kinds of listening pleasure from the efforts in between -- my favorite tracks probably being "Shadows and Regrets," "Awakening," and "Illuminate" (their all-time best, IMHO).On "Yellowcard," few songs stand out as enduring. "The Hurt Is Gone" is probably the best track, although it gets a little bogged down (at 6 1/2 minutes, obviously they were going for some sort of epic quality). "I'm a Wrecking Ball" is an interesting thematic twist from their normal fare -- confessional, or projection? They lead off with "Rest in Peace," which incorporates their bread-and-butter power chords with signature violin. It's good, but it doesn't grab me like half the tracks of "Ocean Avenue" did. They've had a great ride and produced more exceptional quality music than 99+% bands, but this album is probably more a sign that it's time to call it quits...wiser than plumbing the depths of a well that seems to be going a bit dry.

    Simply Wonderful

This album is in a close fight with Ocean Avenue for my favorite Yellowcard album. I've been listening to it nonstop since it came out 5 days ago. The sheer emotion involved in the production of this album is very evident in the vibes these songs emanate. Lyrics are incredible and meaningful. Musicality is really catchy and clean, but the emotion that pours out of these guys' music is what I love most about it. I can't wait til the point when I have memorized these lyrics so that I can sing along. This being their final album, they put all their souls into it, and you can feel it. I know I'll be listening to this album for a long time, and loving Yellowcard for even longer.Normally, when I review an album, I'd include a list of my favorite songs from the album, but in this case, the list would include every song from the album, so that wouldn't get us anywhere that we weren't already. But if I must, here are my ABSOLUTE favorite songs from this album:Rest in PeaceA Place We Set AfireLeave A Light On (This song may or may not have made me cry when I listened to it for the first time)Empty StreetFields and FencesBut seriously, like I said, the whole album is incredible and I'd highly recommend just buying the whole thing. I have loved Yellowcard since Ocean Avenue came out when I was in Middle School. They've gotten me through some tough times. Shout out to Yellowcard: Thanks for doing what makes you happy and having no regrets. It's brought joy to my soul. Here I am hoping for a reunion album a few years down the road. :)

    The Best For Last

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2017*

Their is something poignant, powerful and a bit heart wrenching about Yellowcard's final album. The albums is a fitting send off for the group and it rings true as a goodbye album to their fans. While I fell in love with the album top to bottom, my favorite tracks were Fields & Fences, Wrecking Ball and Leave A Light On. The group's sound is at its finest & most refined. As reflected in the album cover, the album has a somewhat melancholy and haunting tone but still manages to capture the magic and optimism of staple albums like Ocean Avenue.
